Default AU Front End Conversion.

Hi all i am new hope this is the correct place to ask for advise.

I have an Silver AU1 2000 classic forte (black sports interior / abs, electric windows, cruise and a few lil extras than the standard models of this yr )

The car has 90,000 km on dial and runs pretty good for what i need for work so i may just run it for a few yrs since the value has decreases dramatically from the buy new price.

I'm wondering if about changing the front end to the xr6 /xr8 guards and bonet etc, rear spoiler will be needed as well.

First off do i need a new bonet, i have the center crease one already but i don't know if its different in size to the would be new front end? I think the xr bonets are shorter due to the front nose cone?

How much can i expect to spend on the front end panels to do this job.

any other front end things i would need to do it, eg structual front end springs, steering componants etc etc.

any comments on weather its worth doing it or not. I relise it would be hard to find in silver that matches current paint so i would have the expense of paint after the install.

Any thing further you can add would be helpfull. Thanks smart *** coments welcome :P

Ok, youll need bonnet, lights, guards and bonnet latch. The lights are worht a fair whack of money, so the best way I can see you doing it, is find a car atthe auctions that is written off with tail end damage. Find one without IRS, and series 2, and youll have a spare gearbox, engine (or transfer the engine) better diff, front end conversion and any other little options, you get with it, all for probably under $2000.
Youll also get lowered suspension, and the series 2/3 brake upgrade.

Depends what you term "expensive".

As you have a series one forte, all you need is the front bar and the lights. The bonnet and guards are the same. I got mine a few years ago off a fellow club member - $600 for bar and bonnet (I had a series 2), and another $600 for the lights, plus $100 for the pair of indicators for the front bar. A bargain for that XR look (mine was on a wagon)!

Just to confirm as you have a S1 you won't need the bonnet, the bars and lights are getting harder to find but there are still some bargains to be had, a good mod IMO : but I might be bias

Just keep an eye out in the usual places - ebay, forums, trading post.

Failing that, a wreck from the auctions is a good way to go, and you could sell what's left.
