This has been posted before. It's the FG F6 doing a lap around a track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ULmb5Rce-Q
And now the W427 has had a run around, I believe, the same track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Crjx5fj8cpY I had a hunch that the W427 would be quicker around the track. Even though I'm a Ford guy, and really don't like the looks of the W427, I gotta hand it to HSV. This car is badass.

Hardly fair to compare them...
Two completely different cars. 375kw V8 against a 310kw I6...

You're right, there's no comparison. But it's good to get a glimpse of how capable the W427 really is. Up until that footage I hadn't seen any demo's of what it could do.

I wouldn't mind betting that lap time came down to brakes. The Ford fan boys would rather forget the W427. They will attack it's profitability or the outrageous RRP - seldom do they mention the performance. Credit to the F6 though - killed the R8 and matched an EVO.

The WD427 is indeed badass. Any locally made car with a 7.0 litre V8 with custom goodies underneath will potentially be a ripsnorter.
I'd love to see FPV do something similar with the F6. Actually, something more like a 'track pack' F6 and GT as an option.

So, it's 90 milliseconds quicker around a track than the F6? I expected a much bigger margin!

Dry Sump 7 litre V8, HOMER DROOL!!!!!..... I own an F6, there is absolutely no question whatsoever that the W427 is a whole lot more car in every respect.

less than 1 seconds in it and the F6 spent most its time wheel spinning due to lack of rear grip.

Yes for that sort of money I would buy a proper car, like a Porsche.
But still there is something special about having a 7 litre V8 of that calibre to play with in a big Aussie saloon.

I think the correct conversion is 900 milliseconds... This is the cost of performance though, once you get to a certain point the price to squeeze another second out becomes astronomical.

The F6 had plenty of wheelspin also, to add to the lesser braking system it has.
With FPV rumored to be cooking up a GT-H, or halo GT car, it will be very interesting to see how it compares to the 427, especially when comparing rrp.

A guy standing at the start finish line with a stopwatch hardly seems like a reliable way I've timing the W427. I don't think its the same driver in both cars either.

Wish they would stop the annoying music in the background during the timed lap!
Do they think car enthusiasts want to hear digital synthesisers over 370kw of V8 power? Great package that HSV |

I'd have one any day of the week, regardless how much faster I could get an Omega to go if I spent ninety grand on it.

Pity the F6 was drifting most of the time, lol. If he didnt drift for 5 seconds around the last corner, Id say it would have been a little closer.
The F6 managed 180 down the back straight, WD40 190km/h. The WD40 sure sounds nice though.

Ford will never better it though(kw) because the Homodore came out before the last round of emission laws.

bigger motor (7l vs 4l) almost double, bigger brakes, and bigger tyres, and probably other enhancements and tuning, plus $80,000-. for less than 1 sec. what a joke. id rather have the f6 and $80,000- in a term deposit. of course the holden is quicker, they would have pulled out all stops. how embarassing had they have not been able to beat the f6's time...

Is either car a true track car anyway?
Both performance cars, but when buying one, who looks at track times? The 7l is more of an aussie muscle car. |

Id look at track times over 1/4 times any day of the week, it gives a truer indication of how the total package works on the road where you need to brake and corner rather than just accelerate in a straight line..... 3 seconds a lap is allot quicker....
