Been meaning to ask since we got the EL, and thought now would be a good time before the warranty expires.
As an example, I start out running just the vent with a fan speed of '3'; during the trip I switch to the auto climate control, then later on go back to the vent/fan, at which point the fan speed that was in operation prior to the a/c being run is 'lost' - i.e. the vent is back with a fan speed of '0'. Is this how it is supposed to work, given that when we go from vent to a/c the system remembers the temp and fan settings that were last in use with the a/c? I'd have thought if the system can store the a/c climate control settings then when we turn it off and go back to the vent for fresh air that the last fan speed used for the vent would also be stored. I'm interested in knowing if this is correct operation so I can highlight it to the dealer if I need to. Only other problem I know of for warranty work is replacement of the rotors and pads (really bad vibration under brakes) which was supposed to be done before we picked the car up, so otherwise still very impressed. |

okay, the climate control doesnt 'remember' fan speeds, its all automatic, so when you put it on auto, the fan speeds up to what it needs to get to the temperature specified. you should not touch the fan settings, only the temperature settings for good operation, in you want cooler temp, set the temp lower, if you want a hotter temp, then set the temp higher. simple. if you just want fresh air on your face, set it to VENT and then adjust the fan.
if you want an auto fuction without the air con on (which is most of the time) simply select AUTO then press the A/C button to put it in semi-automatic mode. as soon as you start playing with the fan speeds it will go into manual mode and will not do what its supposed to do. |

What your describing is exactly how it works.
Unfortunately not a fault... Something you will have to learn to live with. : |

And that's the whole point (feature) of climate control.
Jump in your car on a hot day and put the climate control on Auto at say 22c and the fan will blow at speed 9 til the car is cooled. Fan speed will then drop to maintain that level. Kind of like a home air conditioner. I love it.
