Today around lunch time I received and interesting message from a good mate of mine. Now he is not a Ford person... he likes his old school Chrysler's and GM.
He is not the type of mate to send me a bull cr*p message for a stir or anything like that so I was quite interested in what I read.. Here is an exact transcript of what he messaged to me: Hey Paul , I had to drop my other half's guitar off for a clean/service etc..yesterday which is just around the corner from the Ford factory, this prototype Ford comes out of a factory with no signage on it and is right in front of me heading up the road (sorry no pics, I was too busy checking it out !!). Anyway the thing had spoilers and all over it , was purple like "Grimace (maccas) type" bright purple with silver outs !... Badge on the boot was "FPV" in red and "30" in black ( FPV 30 ). Dark tint windows way past legal ! Had a bar code on every panel. As quick as it was in front of me it went back into the Ford plant.. "spewing I didnt get a pic on my mobile" It all happened in about 1km of distance, oh I noticed it had dual pipes like XA GT set into the rear skirt, definately weird car , maybe motor show promo etc... Interesting indeed I thought so I messaged him back and asked him for more detail , like was it like the regular bodykit or something different, were the "silver outs' like the normal stripes and what wheels did it have. He replied : I really need to have a look at a new Ford to tell you what the difference was lol . I have a Ford dealer just up the road so I have to check it out so I can see the difference, seriously the *** of the car looked like an old Ford Probe with a body kit . A wing was moulded into the sides so the rear was more rounded "flowed" with the curves of the quarters looking from behind. Wheels were black. I didnt take enough notice at first , too busy looking for the friggen music shop!, but then I noticed big black "X" 's taped all over it, bar code stickers were about 8cm by 15cm on each panel. No Ford badges on the boot or rear garnish but when I booted it to get up to it I could see FPV 30 in the normal right corner of the boot. The silver was tacky like old VS or VR commodores had in the GTS range I think. Anyway I never got a good look at the sides or front of the thing. What I thought was cool was the dual rectangle tips, they would be half the size of XA GT type but looked good and looked like brushed alloy to tie in with all the silver. and I remember where Ive seen that purple , I reckon its a brighter shade of that purple on those Mondeo sports models. It all happened in under a minute but was a thrill to see sneaking around the back of the factory like that I then said "thats really interesting and must be a new model , maybe and FPV Mondeo ??" ( going on his reference to the silver and purple colours) He then replied: It was a big car, Falcon sized , just more rounded and DEFINATELY a V8. One more thing, the tint was SO dark I couldnt see if was even left or right steer So... what did he see ? ? ... any ideas or any whispers of such a car??? I mean he said the rear looked "Probe" like with FPV 30 badges!! "Falcon sized" and was definately a V8 !! .. A new Falcon model? Coupe? or even an FPV Mustang???

The bar codes are nothing unusual; they use a barcodes system in the assembly plant to log each job as it passes from station to station. And if it was super secret it wouldn't be on public roads at this point in time! I'm betting it is either a) a tarted up or parts bin FGII mule, or b) an early development mule for the future RWD platform.

Hmm maybe but he was up close enough to see other details like tail pipes and he said that the "30" was in black , not chrome like the F6 310 ....

Doesn't explain the "definite V8" bit though and twin exhausts.

Being a Holden nut I'm thinking his mate can tell the difference between a Falcon and something that looks nothing like a Falcon.

October is the 40th anniversary for the phase 3 win at bathurst.
Could be something to do with that. They can make badges for anything they want to be. No 30th anniversary things coming in the near future |

I have messaged my mate again to see how sure he is that it said FPV 30 . I havent heard back yet.... He must have been close to it though to notice that the pipes were brushed alloy... As for knowing his cars , wel hes not a Ford guy but we grew up together and used to always talk at school about what cars we were gonna get etc.... So hes always been a car guy. Anyway I'll let you know his reply when I get it .

In this day and age with mobile phones and cameras integrated into them ... it would have been much easier to grab a photo or 10.
Maybe a 300kw N/A 8 ... won't know until there's pics of it.

If it's a 30th anni. model for that, they've kept it pretty secret, & would have to have some hidden somewhere, if they're going to release them on the Bathurst weekend in about 6 weeks time? |

Could be a Taurus, But I agree if it was super secret then it wouldn't have been where it was.
I hope its a taurus the one they had in wheels looked animal, too bad the basic models are FWD, as opposed to RWD or AWD, I cant see ford Oz wearing an FWD after what happened to the Magna (great car but never taken seriously) I dunno about you boys but if ford get all FWD on me I'll be going to the dark side.
