Default Falcon ute going?

Big rumours circulating on the apparent demise of the Falcon Ute, if it's true talk about handing the market to Holden on a platter!. Anyone else hear this?.

Its been going around for a while now.

Nothing has been confirmed (like the Falcon).

As for handing the market over, most sales wouldn't go to Holden seeing as they can't handle any real weight which is what the majority of the fleet sales are.

The ute could die when the current gen platform dies...in 2016...but before then, highly unlikely. Not with EcoLPi, EcoBoost and FGII just around the corner.

If its selling allright, itll stick around. If its selling dismally, might be some truth in the rumours.

Thats how Ford's been working. If its not viable...goodbye charlie.

How many Falcon utes sell per month compared to the likes of Triton, Hilux, Ranger, BT50 etc? I think that answer itself will determine whether a Falcon ute is a viable option for Ford.

I suspect Ranger will take over duties of Falcon ute.

Ford Aus have just engineered the new GLOBAL Ranger, I'd expect they'd be some trade off.

RIP Falcon utes beyond the current model cycle IMHO.

Why on earth would Ford cancel the Falcon Ute with EcoLPI at the doorstep?
Previously, E-GAS version of the Ute made up a significant amount of the volume
and at times, this was 35-40% of production. So it all depends on fleet uptake of EcoLPI Ute.

Another factor could be the new T6 Ranger 2WD Ute, I hear that the I-5 diesel and Auto is a rocket ship,
470 nm and a slick 6R80 auto transmission could be the clincher for fleets looking to replace car based Utes.....

August 6th? Your kidding!!!! Mine was ordered the 22nd and was delivered the 29th of August. The dealership rang me on Monday the 29th saying they had a brand new Nitro XR Ute in their showroom and it had my name on it. They said they couldn't deliver it till Wednesday the 31st, and to that I said that they would make my year if I could pick it Monday the 29th. 6:30pm Monday the 29th I drove out of the dealership with a huge grin
Yours will come buddy! What colour did you order?

No, it won't

It'll be the SS V and S utes which will take over there.

If I want a sports ute I sure as ***** won't buy a Ranger.

Ford will probably kill off the ute. I reckon they will do it so when the axe finally comes down on the falcon they can point to the slowing sales to justify the decision. Remember everything has to be one ford now. So it has a limited life anyway

Yep .. Don't know why people bother mentioning the Falcon ute and the Ranger pickup in the same sentence .. Apples and oranges.

I was referring to Ford's lineup, not whether Falcon ute owners will defect or switch to another brand. Ranger will replace Falcon ute.

If that's your view of "One Ford", then it's a very narrow limited view....The answer lies in what Mulally told FoA,
"If One Ford doesn't suit don't do it."
There is still a lot of "wiggle room " under regional programs and as long as costs are controlled, Falcon survives.
Internally, Ford chiefs are mightly impressed with FoA's effort on the FG falcon, it doesn't suit the US market
but that doesn't mean they are in any hurry to kill it, how many times does Ford have to say it....

What do you mean? Ford is the only one out of the Big 3 American automakers to *not* go bankrupt at some point.
