Default C'etait un Rendezvous

Quote:
On an August morning in 1978, French filmmaker Claude Lelouch mounted a gyro-stabilized camera to the bumper of a Ferrari 275 GTB and had a friend, a professional Formula 1 racer, drive at breakneck speed through the heart of Paris. The film was limited for technical reasons to 10 minutes; the course was from Porte Dauphine, through the Louvre, to the Basilica of Sacre Coeur.

No streets were closed, for Lelouch was unable to obtain a permit.

The driver completed the course in about 9 minutes, reaching nearly 140 MPH in some stretches. The footage reveals him running real red lights, nearly hitting real pedestrians, and driving the wrong way up real one-way streets.

Ive just finished watching this movie and personally really enjoyed it. It was a very impressive feat for 1978 and gave birth to a movie genre, adopted by films such as "Getaway in Stockholm" or the staged "The Run" movie with a 350z.

Below are a list of links to download the movie. If you have dial-up, I suggest you get a coffee. From a cafe. On the other side of town.

Here here or here.

There is no real way of knowing how fast he was driving, however this page attempts to calculate the speed in different sections of the movie.

The only thing I was left wondering was....were any birds harmed in the making of this movie?

Enjoy.

Good movie. Only took about 5 minutes to download on Optus cable.
