So my girlfriend and I are going to europe next week, Amsterdam, Austria, France and England.
And while we are in Nice which is next door to Monaco in France I plan to pop the question ontop of the lookout hill between Nice and Monaco called Colline du Chateau (Castle Hill). Now without getting into too much details she was married before and the guy really stuffed it up apparently and the suprise element was gone. Luckily for me he turned out to be a bad apple and her and I have never been so happy since we have been together The pressure is on for me now not to stuff it up and make it special and memorable for her. She and I have talked about getting married and her taste in engagement rings is quite rich so she has said she would be happy with a Candy/lolly ring for when I ask her the question and we can both pick a ring at a later date. I have since bought a ring after lots of research to find a candy/lolly ring and I chose not to buy a real edible ring but something that resembles one. So I have the ring and the location but kinda stuck on a nice way to go about asking the question. What do ya reckon Ford Forumers? Any cool ideas? Picture of Monaco looking east from the hill Picture of Nice looking West Picture of the balcony I want to pop the question which over looks monaco port entry the ring Cheers guys, Whitty

Monaco. You're going to spend a squillion to get her the ring she wants. How could you stuff it up?
In any case, here's my suggestion for the "line". "You mean the world to me. How about a second go at happily ever after? Will you do me the honour of marrying me?" Whatever you do, hope it goes well for you both. GK

Why not go left of field.....The majority of people suggest getting down on one knee to propose....Instead make a comment that the place would be beautiful one to take a honey moon...Then produce the ring asking for her hand in marriage.

Simple as to propose.
Pick the nicest place and the nicest ring, whack it on her finger while stating: "Hey, I've known you ages and this is crazy, but I love you, so marry me maybe?"

Standard response from the Riksta!! Haha "So how about it?" Nah goodluck mate, you have the PERFECT location and plan that will hook her straight up, whatever you say will just seal the deal. One lucky woman. I don't look forward to have to do it at all, and you're going to France lol.

You know how women say they will be happy with a candy ring until ya get a real one ?. Well, women lie. Give her that and she will push u off castle hill in a heartbeat. She is not going to show her girlfriends and family a 20 cent ring and smile. It's the first thing girls wanna look at . If u can drop on a holiday like that surely u can find a coupla k for a ring.

^ definitely get a decent ring. Its cute and smooshy at the time but you dont want to be cute forever and you will always be known as cheap to her friends and family. You only get one shot to do it first time, so do it right first time round.
Dont bottle it either. Just my 2c as I have not been there just yet myself so may be well off the mark. However I do know a guy who took his missus to a nice restaurant and ended up getting down on one knee in the dark carpark before going home for the night. He will never live that down, my missus always gives him **** about it.

Good build up if she loves you she wont say no. I did mine while pig shooting, covered in blood. She said yes. She must love me.

1 thing you need to do is get the real ring. If you use that cheap thing, the only thing that willl be talked about is what ring you gave her.
If you do not give her the real thing it could the moment as bad as the first time. She is expecting something nice, she gets something cheap. |

Being female.... We say one thing but want the other.... Get her the real ring before you propose especially if the first husband was a dud and didnt make it special
Also once she tells everyone they will be asking to see the ring and she will get sad when she says to her family and friends " we dont have one yet" Find something in your budget that suits her taste and needs shop around there is many rings out there... And at least you are manning up and popping the question..... Most guys dont.... |

i agree with the others who have said get a real ring.
the location's good as long as the weather is, but you need the ring. maybe tell her 'look over there' and distract her while you get down on one knee so she gets a surprise when she turns around? and have a restaurant booked for lunch or dinner with some roses on the table when you get there. |

Have unprotected horizontal dancing the night before and crash the yoghurt truck, then she'll have no choice but to say yes?
Just kidding. I reckon you've got it all set. My fiancee said yes to me in my dirty old work ute on my lunch break, so I think yours should be fine! Good luck.

Get a real ring... and propose with the lolly ring and then give her the real one.. Sorry mate, you MUST have the real thing..
Go left field.. I plan on getting skywriting ("Marry Me") and then plummeting to earth from 9000ft, then proposing..

Good luck.
I just proposed a while back, with positive response. I think as long as you are sincere she will love it. I had a custom made snow dme built in canada (not a crappy picture one, but a solid scene hand crafted, carved and painted inside) with a plastic ring inside it. It was pretty awesome. She loved it and we'll keep the snow dome for ever. |
