Default can a windsor starter be mounted to clevo

As in title. Can I bolt a windsor v8 starte motor to a standard 2 bolt clevo bellhousing. I realise that the windsors have a three bolt arrangement but I was thinking that if 2 out of the three lined up and the starter gear meshed properly then maybe I could utilise it?
If not does any one know where I could chase up a clevo starter motor that when changed to passenger side will have the solenoid facing upwards instead of down?

Great question. I need to know the same thing. They are avalible from "Castle main rod shop" but at $400.+ for a geared hi-torque starter.
Early clevland and windsor starters are the same(to the best of my knowlage) but the 5.0 winsor is not compatible with a clevo for sure. David

mate u can use a 4.0 6 cyl stater on a clevo a bit of grinding is required so the ring gear misses the starter body. but once set up its quite a good gear reduction starter

The 3.9 starter is not the same as the 4.0 starter as I believe it is not gear reduction, but still has the same bolt pattern. Certainly worth trying if you have one sitting around

you need to mod them a little.. and also watch the steering box arm as it can be close to the starter depending weather its p/s or manual box

isn't the 4 litre starter usually mounted on the passenger side? this then means orientation of the solenoid should be upward hopefully.
