Default Getting PS2 chipped in Vic

Before someone jumps up and down on their high horse, I'm not even touching burnt games. I need to be able to play region 1 DVDs and I'm too tight to fork out for a DVD player.

Anyway, anyone know where I can get it done and how much it's roughly going to cost? Any dodgy people out there people have had run ins with?

Getting your PS2 chipped isn't illegal anyway. Try going to a swap meet, I CBF getting mine done LOL!

You can buy cheap DVD players these days for under 100 bux, that plays all 4 regions. Getting a PS2 chipped is over 100. But I would still get the PS2 chipped IMO.

Also, does the chip void warranty? If its brand new, I would wait till the warranty date closes in, just in case

ive done a few chips for people, and done my own...

It most certainly does void your warranty.

I charge $50 to do it, + cost if chip anywhere between 50-$100 so yea, I'd say buy an el cheapo DVD player, it will work out cheaper...

That's half my problem. PowerDVD locks onto a certain region after 5 changes or something. Which is just dandy when I want to watch my region 1 DVDs. Sure I could just buy them region 4, oh wait, that's right, they haven't been released here. Stupid money hungry movie industry. And they wonder why people copy stuff.

I'd rather chip the Playstation for the simple fact I CBF swapping all the bloody cables over behind it. Warranty isn't an issue, it ran out ages ago.

have a look in the trading post under games, there will be a heap of people that do chips advertising in there. I got my X-Box chipped for the same reason as you, it's conveniant to be able to rip games strait onto the HD too. :P

Get a little program called AnyDVD, by-passes all that crap like copy protection so you can't rip it. I got it when I wanted to watch Apollo 13 in my computer, region 4 and all and it didn't let me play it just cause it was in a computer dvd player, so I shoved AnyDVD up it.

Try this place, I think they have modchips where no soldering is needed.
