Greetings all, have a couple of queries, has anyone dealt with Gimmecarparts.com.au? Are they OK to deal with? and I've found 3 ACL Monotorque head gasket sets which all seem to fit my car, but which on is the correct set to use? From compliance plate in engine bay Model 18364, Engine H and Built June 1994. Parts from gimmecarparts.com.au as follows:
Part No. HS520MT Ford 4.0l EB-ED Inline 6 SOHC 2v $67.52 " " . HS522MT " " " " " $68.74 " " . HS522MTG " " " " " $71.41 If anyone can help I would sure appreciate it. I've been told that the ACL Monotorque are the gaskets to use, does everyone agree?? Thanks Paul. |

The Monotorque gaskets are good, but why not use the AU steel gasket for a few extra points of compression whilst the heads off.

just goto ford and ask for an AU II Headgasket.

Use an AU gasket.
Worth the few extra $$$$.

Monotorque Gaskets are what ive been recommended to by many Engine reconditioners. Those Cheapo Supercheap Auto ones are terrible.

$68 for the AU II head gasket from ford
$25.70 for head bolts from bursons its the best $100 you will spend on your motor

By the way, will I have to replace all the other gaskets aswell? Buy a gasket set? What gasket goo is the best.Q's, Q's and more Q's. Thank God for you people on this forum!!!!

damn.... i paid like $70 for headbolts from ford :o
i know not to do that again... depends on the condition of the gasket, intake manifold gasket is usually ok, exhaust gasket depends (i had to replace mine), i'd replace thermostat housing gasket anyway. rocker cover depends if its leaking or not. i've got selly's blue gasket stuff... and the bronze stuff for the exhaust side

On that note, though, the torque sequence is different if you are using an AU head gasket + bolts, isn't it?
I know EA-ED is 40 Nm + 90 degrees... what is AU? |

The AU Gasket is the best option IMO.
But as for those three part numbers - ACL make three different thickness gaskets: Standard, thinner (to raise compression), and thicker (to lower compression). Not sure which part number realates to which gasket though... |

autobarn should be able to look up the part numbers... go find them out there and if you can get them cheaper elsewhere, do so
