Just thought I'd give people a heads up to maybe save someone some time.
Metro Ford spares at Eagle Farm have relocated, they're just down the road but there's a new process if you want to buy spare parts. You can't just walk through the door to buy parts anymore as there is a one hour wait to retrieve items from the warehouse. You'll need to call up in advance and tell them you want to place an order. They'll then call you back at a later time with a confirmation that your order is ready for pickup. If you don't do this, you'll have to go through the order process at the counter when you arrive and then wait an hour. |

I can't say I am surprised. Any form of service these days is a miracle, especially if it's actually designed to assist with a positive & speedy experience. The No 1 area that businesses fail in is customer service and yet more businesses are letting themselves down in this area. If you own a small business, customer service is all you have to separate yourself from the competition. These days, everybody is time poor so knocking back customers who can't wait over one hour is pure stupidity seeing it ain't that hard to pick an order on the spot.

I actually called in advance to check they had the part in stock and was told that they do, so I drove over. The front desk is unmanned, I was waiting for a while and then called ford spares on my mobile to tell them I was at the counter along with other customers. The guy who came over and told me of the hour wait said that they don't consider it an order if someone phones and asks if an item is in stock, so they hadn't thought to tell people the new process when they called up. You have to actually state that you'd like to place an order to kick off the process. But now you know! I'm trying really hard for this thread to be a legit heads up to others as opposed to just a whinge. |

Using the same model for productivity and progress our politicians use ?
Was one guy 5 minutes tops IS three guys (tech support, parts interpreter, automated warehouse specialist) and now takes 60minutes Hopefully just teething problems? |

It does sort of speed things up for both parties. Now the wholesalers I use for work are a bit different and I use an account not cash but it's much quicker for me to call in an order then head straight to dispatch then to pick my own materials or find a staff member who's not busy to give me a hand. Both my preferred places off free next day delivery which is even more convinient if I think that far ahead. Orders in by 3 and delivery around 9am next day.
