hhmmm... lets see
Whats different between the two cars. 3.08 Vs 3.45 diff gears. 37mm Valves VS 41mm Valves Stock cam VS Bigger cam lower fuel pressure Vs XR Fuel pressure 200k VS 120k (guestimate but you get the idea) kilometres done Evolved computer with the AU Better gear changes with the AU(another tenth) But yeh, a big cam, exhaist and a unichip would have it.

i would actually like to see an EF with a 3.9 diff gears go against a stock XR
Anybody? But dude, a diff made up can be $700-$1000 Or you can just get diff gears transplanted into the diff for quite cheap.

Is 3.08 higher gearing than 3.45??
I plan by the end of the year to get extractors, chip, cold air induction, cam and exhaust done. I'm going to get my EF running like i want it to before I touch anything else, like bodykit and such. |

you will need lots ;)
My syster has an EF and I have an AU XR6, The EF will need more than cam, computer and extractors/exhaust.. the diff gears 'might' get you very close ontop of all the other mods but I think the XR will still have the edge.. |

Why are you setting an Au XR6 as the benchmark..??? Why not just get the thing going as hard as you can with the money you have..???

Cause my mate has an AU xr6 and its fast, i want my car to be faster. I was really just wondering what it would take, but really my car doesn't seem much slower than his, especially at the top end of second gear.

Well get extractors + exhaust, do the air intake, cam and computer chip.
theres probably ~$2000 in mods there.. then do the diff gears, and assuming your car is auto, go get a high stall/oil cooler and shift kit. theres ~$2000 in those mods.. If your mates AU XR is auto you will have him, if its manual it will get you very close, maybe a little infront, maybe a little behind, its too hard to compare.. I know of guys with edit, cam, extractors, exhaust, intake, stally, diff gears, shift kit and good(150rwkw) dyno figures that still loose to my car and ive got a cat back exhaust + intake. |

Even some AU XR8's are going around the same price.. |
