Default Night Shift!

Google isn’t helping me, so thought I’d ask here.

I’m coming up to the end of a 4 week shut down swing where I’ve been on nights the whole time. The original plan is my last night being Thursday and then Friday, Saturday and Sunday off, then back to regular day shift. It’s possible that the shut for me will end a bit earlier, I’m curious what the minimum time is between changing from nights to days is. It’s probably different between industries, but surely it’s at least 48 hours?

Like I said google has been no help and no I haven’t asked my employer yet because they wouldn’t have a clue...and I’d like to have a bit of an idea before it happens.

Cheers!

What ever the minimum fatigue brake required for your industry is or eba states , effectively them paying one shift that you've dropped

But if you nite sift ends with out having the required brake then they usually look at the next days start

On the flip side if they have to give you 48 hours , they may not like giving 4 days straight

we do a rotating shift

3 days on 4 off
3 nights on 5 off
4 days on 3 off
4. Nights on 7 off

Rinse repeat

How the laws work I don’t know but a good employer will know that your first (day) off is a right off so it would be at least 48
