Purchased as family Christmas presents and for ford mates that have helped me out over the years. Our friend at Bathurst who has the house on the race track loved the book as a thank you gift.

The first one that I had to buy on the net for myself was $25 more expensive than the rest of them that I picked up from big w for $40. Big w in my area had about 16 on the shelves when I first found them for sale.

Just a note to keep in mind that someone mentioned on here that Big W were keeping them hidden because people were stealing something from the books.

I had looked in three Big W's before giving up and then someone here mentioned a particular shop had some left. I phoned them to find out they actually did have them.

G'day I rang Abbey's bookstore Saturday morning showing 'in stock'..the bloke I spoke to over the phone told me " I'll go and get it for you until you pay for via debit card"..He came back and told me " Very sorry , it's must have sold "...he has no idea if/when they'll have more but offered to let me know..if they get more...
ABC Books online told me they hope to have more around December 5th but they told me by mid October last time and that never happened...
I'm a long way from Big W but I'll try there next..might get lucky you never know...Cheers Rod..

Smile Re: Ford Australia. The cars & the people who built them.

G'day...GREAT NEWS...I got one.....Little old Dymocks in Hobart have eleven ,yes eleven copies left..I just bought mine..so they had 12 before that.. The lady told me that they got 30 copies in originally.
Cost is $60... The postage is $25 though via Australia Post because it exceeds three kilos..maybe courier services would be cheaper interstate..not sure..
They are posting it tomorrow and it should arrive a day or two later..
This beats waiting another 6 weeks via ABC Shop or another outlet and the $25 post saves me a 490 km trip to and from Hobart to get it ..That'd only be different if I was going to Hobart in the near future for another reason..
So...If you're interstate and super keen to get a copy soon-ish and don't mind a few extra bucks post OR if you're visiting Hobart , go to Centre Point Shopping. It's Dymocks Hobart in Shop 206-207 Murray Street..or ring them on 03 62316656...
They'll do card purchases over the phone too...Really nice people...I'm rapt to get one... Cheers Rod...

G'day Ghiaman...Awesome ..Glad that it helps you get one..and.. you'll be only up for the book price too..
Three kilos is pretty big hence higher postage charge but it'll be New Year before I get to Hobart most likely and couldn't run the XR6 near 500 clicks for $25.... Jaq is the lady's name who I spoke to and when I rang back to make sure I'd given them the correct postage address I spoke to a chap called Sam..Jaq was busy..I mentioned that a local Hobart client may be calling in to collect a copy in the near future and he said you'd be most welcome to obtain one..By the sounds of it they'd probably reserve one for you.. .Good luck with it...Cheers Rod..

I recently bought a book from the US which weighs 1.5 kg but the shipping was so cheap and the sticker on the parcel said it weighed only 0.36 kg. Wish we could do such naughty things here for sending books.

G'day Dauphin , My other passion is HO Model rail...About three years ago I decided to switch to flextrack..So I had to buy two boxes of 25 lengths at 1 metre each , so 50 metres all up..The track was about $270...the freight from Queensland to Tassie was $55..but I saved a lot on the track so I didn't care..
Same with the book..Hobart is 245 kms or so from me , so to run either my XR6 or AU ll 490 kms return would cost me maybe $50 Premium in our neck of the woods is about $1.40 a litre and 91 is $ 1.25 or so..Nothing is cheap here in Tassie..especially fuel... Cheers Rod..

G'day....My copy arrived from Dymocks (Hobart) today...Very pleased with it ..A quick browse indicates that I'll have many enjoyable hours reading and taking in a lot of info..Some say it might be exxy , others an absolute bargain .. I think I'll fall into the latter catagory...they still have a few copies left for anyone interested...Cheers Rod...

Mine got delivered from Abbey's today. Just waiting on the other half to pick it up from the P/O.

Abbey's must have had a rush on them after I ordered mine last week, as the girl told me they had a handful in stock.

Just a reminder, got 2 copies (sealed in plastic still) at weekend from my nearest BigW $40 each on special - so the trip was worthwhile.
Was told some other BigW stores still have a few left at that price...

G'day ...You still don't get it do ya..ALL TO DO WITH THE HIGHER THAN USUAL POSTAGE COST OF MY COPY OF THIS GREAT BOOK...The track purchase postage charges thing was my way of another example of emphasising that point..Sometimes you need to look outside the square when it comes to charges for things including Ford Australia The Cars and The People Who Built Them.. .Not off topic if you read my comment in the context I wrote it in. read it in that way and you might finally see my point..
If you don't then too bad..

Some good and bad news.

First the good. Tonight in BigW at Mackay store was restocked with this book. About 20 of them spread over 2 areas - main aisle and also on the shelves. Price is now $20!!!!

Bad news. This version is paperback only, same size though. Also does not come in the hard cover like the first release that will really protect the book.

Good luck on the hunt, for $20 great value!! Almost worth buying the $20 one to read and leave my original one in the plastic and hard cover never to be opened.

G'day folks, after much searching online, I have just received a hard cover copy that I ordered via the Dymocks website. So to anyone who's chasing one, you should be able to get one there. Still $60 though!

But this print run is only a Paperback, its not the hard cover with the sleve like the first run was.

I've just moved so the book is packed away, but I don't remember there being much - there wasn't much about any particular car really, in terms of facts and figures. At the back there was some listing of production information which may give some broad info. I'll see if I can find it to have a look.

No, unfortunately there is really no info on the F Trucks in this book, I looked hoping to find some stuff on the 59-60 F's, there is really only a couple pics of a few various F trucks scattered through the 50s - 60s sections.
