I just got my checked out by the lockel pedders dealer, coz when I hav 3 ppl in the back, it sounds like and feels like it hits the stops... He said that the back end is a little low and it hitting the body into the exhaust and onto the diff. And then he tells me that my rear sway it put on upside down... So he is seggesting that I get pedders coils and shocks...
Since I have the full whiteline works sus kit on the car. I'm not sure if I want to change th rear to pedders. Heres a pic of the sway bar on the car. What do yous think?? I looked my mums NC Fairlane and look like its the same way... Last edited by Sweet_EL_; 01-05-2006 at 05:20 PM. |

Don't change your whiteline stuff for pedders stuff.
as a package the white line kit is an awesome setup, if anything check the exhaust clearance or put up with it. or take it to an independant workshop for another opinion.

However I have noticed that the rear end does sit lower then the front. The wheel arch is just level with the tyre, the front sits a bit higher, so as the rear shock or coils have been worn or something??

Well, that's the first time I have seen a sway bar go over the top of the diff.... I have only ever seen the go under the diff.....

that looks fine, they go over the diff. Dont listen to pedders, There job is selling suspension, so of course there not goin to let u leave without flogging u somthing u dont need. Just tell ralph (pedders bloke of ad) he dont know what his on about

man you guys are tripping the sway bar is fine, they go over the diff! well i know in E-Series they do. :

I had trouble with my Whiteline Kit.
Found out (after getting their boss under car for a look) that they had wrong bolts (that hold sway bar to chasis). Bolts they supplied were way to short. Basically they were 10mm bolts about 60 mm long from memory. Bob (Boss at Whiteline) then recognised they needed special length studs (double ended like Ford use from factory) in the kits not these bolts. ** Especially if you are running on SL springs** Problem fixed. No more sway bar knocking under car. The new bolts they supply lift the sway bar about 30-40mm clear of the chasis rail which improves clearance over diff etc. Hope this might help. Maybe they forgot to revise their kits after my experience. (3 years ago) Steve

that makes the effective stiffness of the swaybar change - moving the links 'backwards' makes the leverage on the arm less, making the effective stiffness higher - at the moment your bar is set to its softest setting.

Ah I didn't that it would b installed wrong because the car used to be owned but the owner of a whiteline sus place...
so if I put the sway bar to a stiffer it wouldn't effect the hight of the car it just change how the backend feels when I'm driving?? |

If everything is working properly it'll make the car more responsive from the rear, and will cause the car to oversteer more. Height and ride quality won't change.
