it is a sad day indeed...

but just the last week I have been driving very conservatively because of ridiculous petrol prices...

so I am now only lead footed when its really necessary....in other words if my testosterone levels are at a peak and/or a heavy metal riff from my stereo rubs me the right way

lol

lol seems most people give it the boot most time then none, like has been said if you have mods like most guys do on here you may aswell use them no point in wasting money on mods otherwise. but i guess there is a right and wrong time. the best thing is when racing a rice 4cyl is when they are screaming at 7000rpm and you keep up with them at 3000rpm and they look at you and they think they good cause they keeping up and dont realise that u still have half throttle too let loose.

I didn't think about it at the time but only when it's time to fill up, but once it full again i jump in & give it another big boot full.

I hardly ever use WOT, it gets to the speed limit quick enough at 1/2 throttle, and to nail most cars i dont need WOT anyway, and once ur used to the power its not all that exciting anymore, lol. Generally i give it a bootful when pulling into the M1 with the barriers either side of the road, mmmmmmm 347ci at 6000rpm, so very horn, lol
Mind u if i hammered it more then my current 17.9L average jumps VERY quickly. lol

No doesn't worry me. i bought my AU new so i know the depreciation loss is 10 times the fuel cost so who cares you have to drive otherwise i might as well take the bus and let someone else do the driving

Nope I dont think about fuel.. yes it is a pain in the filling up and it costing nearly 100 bucks a tank..
But when you buy a car, in my case an XR6 - classed as a sports car, you dont worry about fuel.. drive the thing, have fun, dont complain..
In my eyes a car is a machine and a machine is ment to be worked!

If your worried about fuel and fuel costs, go buy a festiva..

I remembered talking to Des at the dyno day at autotech, when he was buying an BA XR8, he asked about fuel, his wife said to him you're buying a performance car, dont worry about fuel.

Its true, you dont buy a performance car if you dont want to pay for the fuel or pay for it and then cry about it.

I dont stress over the cost of fuel either.

I think about the fact that I don't smoke, I hardly drink out anymore, and the sweet sound of my little 5L at 5500rpm every gearchange makes me human again....so I am saving stacks on psychiatric counselling services. I could easily just be spending the extra $50-odd a week on something else.

While my car is off the road, I am thinking of all the money I am saving by not driving, which is about $20 a day. But I am only doing that to justify spending money on more mods (and conveniently ignoring the cost of the current repairs).

Its all good

Don't think about petrol when I cane it and don't really care to be honest. Petrol costs are what they are and I use what I use. If I was going to bother worrying about fuel consumption I wouldn't bother with mods.

Well considering I haven't paid for petrol in 2 months, 2 weeks, 6 days and 21 hours. (Thats how long I have been on suspension - Not that I am counting or anything.). I will still flog it when I get behind the wheel..

To be honest i couldnt really care about petrol prices, if i really did care about petrol prices or economy i wouldnt have bought a V8 to begin with, i mean yes it is better on fuel than my old capri which is a bonus but the power is there just waiting to be used and im not going to let petrol prices rob me of that because as far as im concerned the money will end up in the car one way or another.

I had a day at the local track today.

Left home with a full tank, 25 ks to the track, 60kms on the track, 21 kms back to the local Caltex.

42lt @ $1.52 for 106 kms. Plus $ 20 octane booster.

Thats a thirst !!

since the day i have bought my car ........ i hardly go over the 3500 rpm mark !
mostly because of peak hour traffic and to some extend just the way i choose to drive
as for ricer's or not 4,6,8, no one overtakes me !!! if i see some one driving down just for the hell of it and zig zaging i just show em how its realy done without going over the limits........... and they just never bother goin past me .... guess it come downs to making the right choice and knowing your way....................
and when passion takes over all i want to see is my tacho at 5500 rpm and the feeling of adrenaline rush ........ at this point in time all it matters is the bond between me and my baby ...................... everything else becomes history ..............
fuel is an " unfortunate " cost i have pay in order to enjoy and have close what i love .......... and as for love you can not buy it...................
cheers
