Unlike the COBRA. If you missed out on the COBRA at the time - the punters and speculators could always wait for other models to look out for in FG series.
In this case - I dont think this is speculation - Its fact.
Ok! Here's one for ya.
In 20 years in time. Which will be worth alot more dollars, a FG LE or a XY GTHO Phase 3 ?

I was referring to the collectibility and value of the latest crop of Plastic GT's ( BA onwards ) - not the Rustys ( X series ).

See thats the thing, I cant believe people buy these cars for investment value.

You will be dead by the time its actually bounced back to what you paid new or petrol will be $10/L.

Any GT that had a version raced back in the day will be worth more than the new stuff, gee the V8SC looks more like a XR8 anyway.

At the end of the day - I've driven heaps of cars in my time and every time I jump into the BFGT and drive it either sedately or spirited and I hear the Howl of the BOSS V8 - it makes me feel like $1,000,000 bucks.
So in my book - the value is right here and right now.

I imagine that for this last ever model, driving the last of the breed , with that extra little bit of factory poke and a nostalgic 351 badge with that great Supercharged motor would immediately feel like its PRICELESS for a very very very long time.

Yes so your theory is correct, buy it because you want to drive it. People buying new GT's and shedding them are out of their minds.

All GT's have street cred and are collectible, from the humble classic 1967 XR GT right through to the modern plastic 2014 FG GT's (including the new LE).

By "speculation" I was referring to the practice of buying something just in the hope of on-selling it at a profit.
This is where so many Cobra buyers got burned - the premium after-new-sale was just not there.

By all means buy an LEE GT for itself - I would love to, but don't buy one in the hope of flicking it for a quick profit.

Yes the cars will be real - or unreal as the case may be!!

I'm surprised that they'd do unique (old school) colours for the last batch of GTs. Our will those colours be available on the XRs as well?

Vermilion Fire is one of the best colours Ford has released on any Falcon IMO.

Re: what car will fetch more money...today's kids/teenagers lusting over a modern GT will one day be cashed up and nostalgic. There'll be someone in the future that'll pay crazy money for an FG GT the same way someone paid crazy money for an XY HO.

Vermillion fire was supposed to be available exclusively on the GT-H, so the option to use it now is there.

Sorry but I reckon all of the current Gt's will be quickly surpassed in power by the generic US platforms from Ford.
Yeah you may be able to buy the last FG GT.
I think the F6 is a better Australian collectable.
Think back to the Chrysler Charger. The E49 is a more collectable car than the V8 E55.
Having said that we may look at grabbing either an XR8 or XR6t FH.
My FG F6 is a keeper regardless.

The future value of the GT will be determined by what the current younger generation (10-25yo) thinks of the car. Unfortunately I think most would regard it as some sort of dinosaur that deserves the same fate.

Sure they will be desirable to us (25-50+) but I cant see them matching GTHO type prices in the next 25-30 years.

That is because the E55 (only available in slushbox) was comparatively a slug compared to the E49 (although by the time E55s were out it was post Supercar Scare and they were faster than the comparative V8 Fords and of course the Holdens in stock trim were always dog slow in stock form). And yes I have owned 340 and E49 Charger, in standard form there is no comparison whatsoever. The E49 feels like an early 70s era Euro sports car in comparison to the E55, or any of the other Aussie V8s.

The E49 does have one thing in common though with the F6, apart from six cylinders, heaps more bottom-mid range torque than the comparative V8s of the same era.

Anyways.... Back to FPV.

I had a theory that colours that were modern interpretations of those classic colours would be used.

I'm still puzzled why Octane returned (when was the last time they brought a colour back? Especially so close to ending?) and my view is this is why they did it.

I'm tipping Octane to be the hero colour of the last GT. My guess anyway.

I reckon the last one it would be good if it was available in a lot of colours but all heralding from the 70s hero days, apart from Pottery Beige :-)

Wont be Octane. The reason they bought back Octane is they are getting poor. Costs a lot of money to develop a new colour and it has to be tested.

Power hasn't been the only factor for being collectable. If that was the case an XR8 Sprint would be worth more than a GT XY .... and cants see that happening

But anyway, not into collectability. I would only buy one to enjoy the crap out of it. I would love a 40th Anniversary Bseries or Cobra but would never lock them away.

While I hope my car eventually becomes a collectable & it's not an everydayer, I take my car on the track & thoroughly enjoy it but with the intention of taking it home the way it left.
Surely they are made to be driven spiritedly.

Different thread says they have already stopped production of FPV F6's.
Do you think there will be a market appeal difference between FPV over the road produced vehicles compared to Ford factory "FPV" units ?
Excluding the absolute "last" vehicle build no.
