I've actually wanted one for a while. Yes, prices are crazy.

May be worth looking into sourcing and importing one yourself rather than one that's landed and registered?

I think because of their age there wouldn't be any left in Japan,

All that 1990s stuff is very rare on the ground in Japan it seems, as soon as something of interest becomes eligible for import into other countries there's a huge rush out then they're all gone, like JZS171 Toyota Crown, they're virtually impossible to find now in Japan.

I shouldn't have deleted all my carsales price fluctuation emails..

Makes for some funny reading...

There is this Ariel Atom looking thing for sale..

Listed at 60 or 70k, then price rise to $120k, now dropped to $49k.

Same thing happened with a jacked up older yellow hilux.

For sale for months at around $13k yet almost weekly price adjustments for several hundred $??

I get the idea of adjusting a price for the market but what is the rational of going up and down $500 each few weeks???

I've got the Lebonator up at $20K for ****s and giggles and I've had a few hits and phone calls, and one salty bloke who just messaged to say the price is absolutely ridiculous (which it is )

Seems to interest Gen X potential buyers, they seem to be in their 40s/50s who are chasing VR/VS from the calls I've had.

One guy was looking for a stock one, ex Commonwealth Car, did you even read the very detailed ad and look through the 40+ photos? I talked him out of buying my car keep looking bro

I don't mind the salty blokes messaging because once people start messaging you on carsales it sends alerts to the people who have it saved about 'interest is increasing' and suddenly I get phone calls and messages.

I don't really want to let it go, but if someone offers ridiculous money I will hence OTT listing on carsales

That's what makes them Boomers.
Boomers by definition grew up in extremely prosperous times, found it easy to get good jobs with career potential, with minimal qualifications, already had a head-start before the bad times hit, and were able to buy real-estate before the escalations.
Fact is they are statistically the wealthiest generation Australia has ever known, and they are now mostly retired or retiring.

Obviously there are always individual exceptions to the rule, but we're not talking about individuals, we're talking about Boomers, which is by definition a collective.

Haven't really followed the market of late, but I know the Falcon is generally worth a bit more these days.

I'm about to renew my insurance. Last year the max agreed value was 28k. This years it's 35k

Despite being a year older, it's apparently worth potentially 7k more. Almost tempting to sell it to fund a Mustang GT purchase, but alas, it's still a little out of budget reach for now.

That's exactly what happened to me. Mine went up 5.5k this year vs last.

So by the time my wife's Escape arrives the dealer will be handing over the Escape, taking the keys to our trade-in Territory and giving me a receipt for the $4K eft they just processed into my bank account

That yellow GTS-R Commo looked absolutely sh'thouse when released.

Surprisingly, it actually looks even more horrible as the years have aged.

Why anyone would desire that car is beyond my understanding.

I do agree, it's not a looker.
But I think the biggest talking point was more the donk. Blueprinted and all
It wasn't until VX was it's torque figure matched.
From front on its hard to argue it looks bad, until side on and rear.

I liked it because it hadnt had the LS thrown at it to make power, it had the good ol 5L that had gotten a fair massage back then to make the power it had. So for me that makes it special.

When you say 'street legal Go-Cart' I'm sure this this is as close as you can get.

The seller isn't doing themselves any favours with their pricing structure.

Shame it only has one seat. That as a 2 seater would have been amazing to have in the garage.

Yep... got to be fast. There was a nicely restored Daihatsu 360X (Kei car) for sale down in Melbourne for $8k. Gone before I could arrange a tow.

Could have easily got a few $K more if they wanted.

I'd still like to go and inspect what I am about to consider buying but seems others are prepared to dive in without an inspection.
Seeing the same with properties.
Maybe my 7.5k is worth more to me than the other guy....I'll miss out but at least I wont feel the pain of buying a mistake due to that pressure.

Whilst Holden and to a degree Ford prices have risen dramatically, if a Euro fan there's amazing deals out there.

The massive rise of Holden crap in particular has meant bargains exist for much better cars imo.

The blueprinted engine was optional. A very expensive option, like 10k. Cars that got that engine had HRT enhanced stickers on the front guards.

I remember Wheels testing one, and it was actually slower than the standard one

There was a lot of funny business going on with press fleet cars back in the day. I remember once an SS posted faster figures than a HSV model with the writer commenting the engine was "stronger" then he remembered....plus when the BA rumours started coming out, news leaked of it's 260kW output but no-one knew how much weight gain also took place due to much greater body strength blunting some of the performance gain ...and over in the "red corner" suddenly Holden's press fleet started posting greater performance numbers than previous versions.

Well there you go, didn't know that.

Now though I'd definitely want a BP one purely for **** factor.

My mate had a 2012 Mazda3 Neo manual until this morning.
193000kms, bit rough, probably needs a clutch. But drives OK.
Washed, photos taken and listed on Facebook marketplace yesterday for $6500. He wanted it gone quick and easy. Sold within half an hour $5000, sight unseen. Money in account, tow truck took it away half an hour ago.
