Looked at it, thought about all the things that needed doing, then went inside and watched the cricket instead.

I stand by my decision.

Seen the dodgey repairs to my Fairlane from a previous crash repair :@ good thing I am fixing it properly.

Ripped skirts, kinked skirts, ripped welds.

Got it started yesterday for the first time in 1.5 years!

Really bad ticking though... dry lifters? Wonder if I can just idle it in the shed until the oil gets up there again?

Put Mr Happy (aka my 2010, FG XR6 Ute) in for his 60k service. Done at Busselton Geographe Ford, the dealer who actually took the few minutes to find the car I wanted and more.
Caught up with Andrew Ingrey, the dealer principal. He remembers me and the car. We chatted about the upcoming and final Falcon. He wasn't able to say if the new Falcon would be available as a Utility, it will have the deep Mondeo type front end and Ford will empty the parts bin, so most models will have plenty of 'fruit' standard.
Though I'm happy with my Super Ute, I might put my hand up and grab one of the last of the best automobiles made in the world, made by the best bunch of engineers and builders that have ever turned their hand, to producing a vehicle, under the limitations of minimal everything

Hey, on that point, let me open another thread.....

Sold it, and glad I did.

Ford Australia and Holden deserve to die a horrible death, the rubbish that they build now is astounding.

I will now purchase something that is reliable, has a good power to weight ratio, good on fuel and not built to the lowest specifications of the lowest bidder and actually has some form of quality assurance preformed on it and then rectified if something is found prior to leaving the factory.

Its a sad time for the Australian automotive industry in the sense that we are losing a asset, on the other hand for the last 10 years they have been screwing the Australian people by producing under engineered low quality vehicles and then selling them at top dollar.

How much did your car cost new?
How much is it worth now?

End rant.

Installed 5 P clamps and stainless cap head screws to secure the brake line under the coupe. Another P clamp on the s/s braided coolant line to keep it off the extractors. Tidied up the dash wiring and got the LED indicator lights and high beam setup amd working, another step close but another 277 to go....

Put a new radiator overflow bottle on the car Monday - no problems there but the engine looked really grubby alongside the new part. Answer! down to the car wash and give the motor a clean-up. Took all the inlet pipework off and covered the throttle body with a plastic bag for protection - cleaned away and reassembled.
Started car and it was idling like crap and stalling. My immediate thought "What the bleeding hell have I done this time" Long story short - no5 plug lead was broken so I spent yesterday morning replacing spark plug leads. Something else just doesn't feel right either - I've cleaned the throttle body / ISC and reset the ECU but there's something else there that just doesn't sound/feel right.

On a better note - I've started re-polishing the car, it's been looking really "tatty" recently so I thought a panel when I can spare some time might rekindle some enthusiasm for it again - let's see how it goes.
