Its like they used fencing for 4, 5 and 6 and martial arts for 1, 2 and 3.

Lucas explains it as Vader is not what he used to be being part man and part machine and Obi-Wan is old a frail and hadnt used a sabre for 20 years and Luke being poor because he hasnt had the training like other Jedi.

After i saw the movie i was searching for some reviews about it (to see what others thought) and came across the SW forums.

Some things of note I read was that General Tarkin (the boss of the death star) was in the last scene when vadar and the emperor were looking at the semi constructed death star (missed that)

There is also a debate raging wether the emperors story regarding the evil dude who created life was true. Speculation that this evil dude had the emporer as his apprentice and the evil dude learned how to create life (by using the dark side of the force to control life at a cellular level and split cells) - the evil dude then created aniken by using the dark side of the force to create cells in anikens mothers womb (as aniken never had a father). The emporer (being a nasty greedy sort of guy) learned of this new life and hence hatched the whole plot to influence aniken from the the beginging and eventually control him and rule the galaxy. He then killed the evil dude but could never master the power of creating life himself (as he is a bit of a tool). Apparently George Lucas was symbolising Jesus Christ (who also never had a father) in Aniken and what would happen if such a figure turned evil. Wether thats all true or not i wouldnt have a clue - thought it was interesting though

I dont mean to be the thread miner (Long time listener, first time miner)

But I saw that movie last night, and that ending was soo sad. I felt soo sad when Natalie Portman died :( and the whole thing that Darth realised he was trapped in his own prision for life, etc

soo depressing... but still good movie. probly the best of the recent movies

ok im not a star wars "freak", but I thought it was awesome!

way better than 1 and 2. Its been 2 days since I saw it and IM still thinking about it. Very emotion aswell, I felt ill when anakin killed those kids.

Its rare that I get so involved in a movie, but this one was great.

thats the thing. It seems the star wars "freaks" were a bit disappointed, and the "non-freaks" really liked it. I guess it didnt live up to the die-hard fans expectations...

And I doubt it ever could have, lets face it some people had expectations that could not possibly have been met. It's like the "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" that recently came out - I seriously doubt comparing it to the original that so many people are familiar with is a fair comparison, and expectations of the new one would be very high by fans of the original, probably too high.

The only thing i didn't like about the movie(s) was the HORRIBLE one liners.

You know that feeling you get of embarrassment for someone else, while that was happening far to much!

General Grievous was almost killed in a space craft that crash landed and that is why he is in a suit to keep him alive.(Very similar situation to suited Vader)

I heard that the Emperor and Dooku were responsible for this, because before hand he was a great general who was not "evil"

He was the prototype for Darth Vader - remember the Emperor forsaw this. He was not scared of Anakin when he came into the room after the Mace/Palp fight.

I thought it was a fantastic movie.. a little dragged out at times and comrpessed at other times.
but filled in very nicely.

the ONLY gripe i have with the movie, is the ending had about 15 elements to it.
i honestly don't think we need to be SPECIFICALLY shown how everything links up to the next episode.
They essentially left nothing to your imagination or anything that you can go 'ohhhhhh thats where that comes into it'
its simply slapped in at the end of the movie.

my thoughts exactly
i loved the movie but it seemed like it ended, then they added all this stuff to link to series 4 etc.

still a good movie though.
