I do have to add to this ... all EGAS models didn't have the failsafe cooling system implemented due to backfiring when shutting spark to Cyl 6 (and kicking back in again.) My AUII XLS ute doesn't have a low coolant sensor in the header tank ... although it is an I6 though. I can understand yours having it Austin ... because it's an 8.

there are a few S2 and 3 cars with them but they have been retrofited. the failsafe did come in earlier than the ditching of the sensor . they decided to delete the sensor after the system had run for a while to save $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

WRONG!!!! AUII and AUIII had the sensor fitted. Standard on Fairmont and Ghia and Fairlane 6 cyls. Don't know where ya get your info from but Ford had been fitting them since AUI's and I have been selling them for a few years now. ALL BA's have them as well.

How can all BAs have them ... i bought a 2nd hand BA header tank to replace my AU one ... and there's no sender in the side of the header tank at all.

Maybe it wasn't a BA tank?
Having said that, I will check tomorrow when I go to work. It has been my experience that all have them fitted but I have been wrong before. I do work for a Ford dealer and sell spare parts so I will check. PS; not wrong about the AU Sensor though. |

to MRredxr347.I must have wasted my 28 years working in the motor industry for FORD dealers In parts.10 posts the reason not to post is because of misinformed people with tunnel vision.
To answer you all low coolant sensors have been in coolant reserviors since EA falcon but not in all vehicles S pack,XR and higher series were standard but in BA all models have it. Do not confuse this with a engine coolant sensor which tells the PCM at whattemp the engine is. :

I have a feeling that this sensor might be like the tailshaft in manual EL's where some got the balancer on the front of the shaft (manual shaft) but some didn't (auto shaft on a manual from factory).

All the BA header tanks i saw had no sensor. It's a surpringsingly nice swap over ... and gives more room around the LPG converter on EGAS models ... as the return hose to the radiator is in front of the header tank and not below it. :

Mechan1k, sorry I lead you astray and I had thought they were fitted truly?
I went and checked a new one this morning and NO hole Mr AU3XR6, you are DEAD wrong about the switches in AUII and AUIII, we have many taxi drivers come into our parts department who buy them for their AUII and III's and I am sure they didn't all go out and get them fitted just to pi** someone off? I would LOVE to know where you got your Info from? maybe you know something more about Falcons than anyone else or maybe you work for Ford? Anyway, maybe ya need to get the facts straight about that and admit ya wrong, I did |

To RedXR347 sorry you did defend what my answers to the people of a lesser intellect. This crap has been going on for too long its time for mr au3xr6 to accect the fact that there are people in this world with more of the correct information than some misguided and ilinformed facts not relevent or correct.

Sorry b2tf but i must respond to the above post by tf1. I have seen and worked on AU2/3 XR6 Fairmont & Fairmont Ghia and none of them have had the sensors fitted.
According to my friend at ford parts they are not fitted in S2/3 but many taxi and hire car operators get them fitted to give what they believe to be extra protection. so my facts are not " misguided and ilinformed" as you so rudely and arrogantly put it my facts come from observation and from a ford parts interpreter. |
