Filling your wife or girlfriends car with fuel....

I fill it up for her; the last time she tried to fill it up herself, she had to ask for help to open the fuel lid..

My wife, cooks, cleans, kids, mows lawn, washes her car and fills it up.

I drink beer and make scones in the adds during sport on TV.
Oh, and every 7000k or so I will do an oil change for her.

I live in FNQ, and my wife lives in Sydney. She refuses to fill her car up. It is costing us an absolute fortune for me to fly down every friday night to fill it up.

My wife has never filled the car up in the 33 years we have been together. Then again she hasn't ever driven the car either.

Thanks guys ....you have given my wife and I a good laugh today .....and for record my wife does fill her own cars up with fuel.....but as I have seen there are so many that a WHIPPED big time.....so to add to this does she take her car for a rego insp or servicing or is that the man,s ,domain..... **** funny this thread...

Maybe we should break it down and let's be honest here..
Who does the general household duties, ie.
Cooking,
Ironing,
Cleaning, as in the bath/shower/toilet/vacuming/folding/
Paying the weekly bill's,
Kid duty, changing nappies etc.
the list goes on...

How many of us can honestly say that we do any of that.
I know I can say I do a fair amount of the above as my wife is the better income earner and as she is also studying (PHd) while working full time and has a full on very stressfull job, I find it is only fair of me to do the above, although she cook's as she is a wonderfull cook and I don't have a par on her at it.
So I can easily say I don't or wouldn't have a worry in filling up the car for her if need be, if she was sitting around doing nothing then it's a different story, but understanding of each other is a healthy realationship.

way i see it its just another household task, on days off ill commonly grab her keys go off wash and vacuum and fill it up as ill honestly say she would do more of the other stuff around the house so i feel its fair. + i like washing cars i find it relaxing. however she'll fill it up when it needs it instead of running out

You are making a big assumption that everyone who has replied to the OP is in the same situation you are, or as you are describing above....

No mention in the OP as to what situation the couple in question are in, also no question to the forum about the situation those who reply are in....

I am not making any assumption's, I am just clearly pointing out that maybe we should stop and think about what our other half's actually do and how maybe we can contribute, as there seem to be alot of people on here that think other's are somewhat whipped....., but I'd like to know just how much of the general household dutties they do ?.

Married 34 years this year, we started living together when she was 17 me 18, lots of mutual respect for each other.

If mine wont fill her car, then she wont drive. I'm not going to do it.
I have driven her car about 3 times in the past 10 months she has had her license and car.

She doesn't check oil or do the tyres. But its not hard to flick a switch on the dashboard, put a nozzle in the hole then hold it till it clicks off.

I wear gloves when filling up with diesel, firstly it stinks the car out, secondly I work in an office and it stinks the office out and thirdly and more importantly the smell very much reminds me of the first time as a SES volunteer I attended a fatal crash, it involved 2 trucks and now when I smell diesel it reminds me of the dead bodies I dragged out - strange really after 20 odd years, but that never leaves you, and here I was a truck driver at the time - LOL

As to the OP - i fill it if needed and I have more time than she does. What's the big deal? I will also completely fill a friends car if I have used it (even if it was near empty when i get it) which costs a motsa for my close mates prado (130L tank!!!).

Go to a diesel pump and pick it up.

I made that mistake filling up my TDCI Focus without using gloves and ended up with diesel on my hands, then on my pants and then on my steering wheel.

And she no doubt loves you all the more for it!

I fill my own car with fuel, Steve will sit in the car until I've filled up . I check my oil, fill my tyres with air and clean it (when I feel like it). If I drive his car, I will fill it up with fuel if it's getting low.

He pays the bills, always makes me coffees when I have most of my head in a uni book, and washes the dishes mostly because I hate them. If he's home before I am - he makes sure the washing is in the machine/dryer and is usually cleaning up the kitchen as I'm walking in the door...kettle is boiling and he's organising me a coffee.

Funny you say that. Hyundai ix35 diesel comes with a set of disposable gloves labelled to be used for refuelling.

It's quite unpleasant to get on your hands. Apart from the god awful smell, it's oily, and impossible to wash off without soap. Even after washing, your hands still stink.

The point of marriage is give and take.
I imagine a lot of wifes and girlfriends have to clean a lot of disgusting things off clothes and bedsheets out of love...and a lot of other jobs that we see as 'woman jobs'...

If refuelling the car is the hardest thing people have to do, then suck on a sav and have a sook...

I must be whipped as well because I had no issues with my missus taking my worked 5.0 with a locka and all the good gear in it anytime she wanted it.
Just made work for me when we had to go shopping for her to get her XR8 after driving my V8's. It is sad but nowdays when the missus car is faster then my current one.............
