sweet, thanks.

is anyone getting confirmation emails?

says on the site

How to vote

Easy! Just click on your favourite car below, fill out your details and submit your vote. Once you've voted, you'll receive a confirmation email – you must reply to this or your vote won't count. And it is a one-person, one-vote deal; multiple votes won't count!

people i have spoken to have told me they aren't getting the confirmation emails, i didn't get 1 either..

Your brother will be doing well if he gets through all those Holden's.

I never got a confirmation either

Yep, voted for the Capri...always had a soft spot for them since a mate had a bright green V6 GT Capri maybe 25 years or more ago.

I do think they are stretching the boundaries of "Street" machine there to sometimes...look at that XA ute, HSV GTO (a "Dedicated Burnout Car"), and VK sedan in particular...you wouldn't get out of your driveway before The Plod descended like a storm of crap upon your head.

My son used to buy Autosalon magazine, and they had "street car of the year" award, which rewarded not only outstanding bodywork and mechanical prowess, but several other controversial points as well.
The vehicle had to not only pass a roadworthy, it had to pass noise tests, handling tests, braking tests, and some other things that related to a proper street driven all-rounder.
I vividly remember a few cars with mega-bucks race brake setups that, during the brake test, did worse than a standard street car. The test was of the brakes when cold, in the magazines words, "a real world test of leaving your driveway first thing in the morning, getting to the first intersection, and being met by some half-asleep guy going through a stop sign"...no "warm up" time was allowed.
I also recall one R32 Skyline which won, and while it put out nearly 750hp, still whispered past the noise test at less decibels than a standard car. Clever exhaust design was the key.

For many years there have been calls on and off that Street Machine have two classes of cars for SMOTY...one for outright sho-only trailer queens, and another class for owners who have used maybe more ingenuity than the first group to make a car that is not only outstanding, but it useable and driveable.

Hope the Capri wins!!

2011G6E, the good thing about turbo cars is they are very streetable, you don't need big cams or big comp. you can make 2000hp and still drive as good as a 200hp car. street driving the Capri it barely ever gets out of running in vacuum, boost starts building around 3500rpm but it's never needed, it might hit a couple psi when overtaking. at 9psi it's got over 500rwhp which is more than plenty.

i'd be surprised if it failed a roadworthy, its not loud well under the legal limit, passed emissions even on BP98 (has 2 cats), handles like a dream and since he put the new Wilwwods on the front, stops on a dime. i found this out one day when i was following him home, i nearly ran up his *** at 60km/h when he hit the brakes hard

I got no confirmation email either; the whole thing must be rigged so it's no wonder they keep winning.

Yep, from what I'd read about your brothers Capri, it's pretty much like the sort of car I was talking about...it's possible with careful planning, choosing the right parts, and a creative reading of the modification rule book to build a stunningly awesome car that is drive able and pretty much fully road legal. I hope it wins!

2011G6E it'd be great if it did win. use a base car that is slightly heavier, i think the V6 Cortina's were around 1150kg factory weight, you could get yourself a nice 4.6L which could easily make 2000hp, and capable of running 7.1@200+mph

hey guys, trying to score a few last minute votes for the Capri. voting ends 10am October 18th. you can vote online at http://www.smoty.com.au/comps/smoty2...aspx?Code=MI10 or you can text CAPRI to 19955803 (text costs 55c)

here's one of the cruise sessions at the Supernats a couple weeks ago, cruising around Eastern Creek, we went out 5 or 6 times, got a good 40+ laps of the creek on Saturday, rained on Sunday so the event was called off. had a set of Toyo 295's on the back, they couldn't handle the punishing 200+km/h, the brakes, turbo covers and tyres barely survived the weekend

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkGOk-gKvRw

here's the Capri and a few other mates having a couple races in the off-street racing.

thanks mate. registered, driven and the main thing fully engineered and running 8.20@166 (best so far, expecting some 7's) it's doing pretty damn well. it can drive in peak hour traffic n it handles like a dream compared to alot of other street/strip cars.

Should see the 7s once you got some new fuel that doesnt cause it to pop so you can wind the boost up.

we'd be happy with a 7.999 with this engine got a good deal on a 1UZ for $300 (usually can cost up to $1000), new engine will be started next year, will be a much more serious combo but still remain a weekend cruiser.
