No, that was the big reason a lot of sales were lost to competition in Australia, no auto.
But now that Ranger uses Transits engines, the 6-speed auto trans should become an option.

From what I've heard from your side, US Transit will sport the 3.7 V6 and possibly a federalized version of the I-5 diesel

Both of those sound like decent options. I don't think a four-cylinder gas engine would make the grade in a vehicle of that size here.

Word is Transit will be bigger RWD versions , mostly to replace E150 and E250.
Insiders at BON are suggesting the medium duty E350 and E450 will probably continue
as revised/modified units but need to be that size and weight due to heavier load capacity.

I'm sure Ford will keep the E Series as long as it can. It's very popular as an ambulance here.
