Well what makes anyone think anything other than the standard line of prevailing market conditions and production cost dictate prices.

The current price hike in Australia has nothing to do with standard line of prevailing market conditions and production..

And the reason for the current price hike is??????? Its a very stupid company that would spend billions of dollars to produce a product, and then try and sell it at a price that no one is willing to pay for it.

you stated the price hike had nothing to do with prevailing market conditions and production. Now you are saying it is blamed on cold conditions and supply in Europe. You are arguing with yourself here, not with me. Supply issues in Europe is a market condition, when you consider that supply and demand are the two main determinants in a products price.

Signed. Thank god it's still 69 cents in Berwick area but I was ****ed when it went above 38 cents. It'll never come back down to that again I'm sure.
It's a by product which they used to dispose of at cost and now they're squeezing every penny with it

The stupid thing is, if our govt. let the public have LPG at a good price, like UAE or Venezuela or any of the other oil producing countries do for their citizens, and only sell off the surplus at global market prices, like UAE or Venezuela or any of the other oil producing countries, then we'd have a thriving LPG industry and would be well on our way to being world leaders in LPG technology. Our economy would be doing so much better because transport costs would be so much lower and Ford and Holden would have been producing and selling many more LPG powered vehicles, which they could have then exported the technology, and probably vehicles, to the rest of the world, maybe even enough to have survived as manufacturers in this country.
This country floats on gas and successive govts. have systematically sold it out from under us, along with all our other natural resources, with no thought or concern for our own citizens. The people of this country, on the whole, get no benefit from all the natural resources this country has to offer thanks to the ineptitude of our politicians and plain old corporate greed.

Apparently the person being interviewed had been connected with the Oil/Gas industry, he pretty much said that ALL Oil and Gas mining is meant for the overseas market and we get what's left over. So basically if we want it we have to pay their prices !

^^^ and that right there is the problem.^^^
That whole philosophy and business model is a$$ backwards as far as the govts. position is or should be. Take care of our own first THEN the greedy corporate suits.

The higher the price the more tax collected, why would the government want the price down, if it gets too high and we buy petrol the tax rate is higher on petrol, its win win for Govco.
