Check on the net. Car and Driver explain how it's done in a video and I've also been told that Motor Trend was doing the same thing. I know Road and Track were publishing the exact test times when they were based on the West Coast, but a few years back they moved their office to Michigan and I can't say that they are still routinely posting the actual times. Also importantly US testers normally set their timing gear to only start counting when the car has moved 1 foot and that commonly reduces the time by about 3 tenths. Regarding the Mustangs 5.6 to 100 km/h, I'd expect later tests to cut that down a fair bit. |

Less power due to Euro spec exhaust is to blame for lesser performance I imagine.

The problem with just a 0-100 time is we don't know how much time it lost to wheelspin getting off the line and what it's rolling acceleration is like. |

So its the obvious choice because its a Aussie built car and there is no waiting list, he wouldn't have needed to test drive them to know that..

That sounds more right and logical. I was just going off the article as written by the journo. Should have known better...

Every time I see a VF SS I think of a Holden Cruze or Dame Edna.
Nice muscle car if you want to look feminine. |

If this thread starts getting personal it will go the way of the Dodo and cease to exist.

Owned a VE Clubsport, then went to an FG F6 and didn't notice any better (or worse) visibility being obscured by the A pillar and then an EvoX which again is pretty much the same. The size of the plastics appeared larger in the VE but the additional visible rubber and door of the FG evened it out (from what I can recall..)

Odd comparison if you ask me. 3 cars that the only thing in common I can see is they're all V8's. Each of them appeal to a different buyer.
If the Mustang had a shorter waiting list, the other two cars could be faster, more nimble, more fuel efficient and have more gadgets, but I'd choose the Mustang every single day of the week. |

Luckily all this is subjective, cos I reckon the best car ever made in the land down under was of course the mighty AU Falcon back in 1998-2002.

The VF should be the best car made in this country. Its the most recent model. I'm not going to include FGX because Ford had already announced the Falcons end before its release and didn't invest much money in it.

We have gone from which company is more Australian, to which car is more masculine...
Didn't the phase 3 use an imported engine? |

Overall, I don't mind the cars being pitted against each other, but giving the win purely on availability is a long bow to string IMO.

half a second slower to a hundred kph , it means little , and who really cares, in any event surely the yardstick has been the standing quarter/400 metres, the only thing nought to a hundred establishes is traction in my book, the real mark of performance is top end.
