Hi Everyone,
Well about two years ago the Expansion Tank Coolant Bottle on my Ford Mondeo was using a lot of Coolant and at first i couldn't work out where it was going to. I was at home so i started the car up and found out that when it got to the right pressure that there was a pin ***** leak in the Tank and was spraying out the side. I got a new tank from Ford and was fitted it and as i went to put the two little plastic hoses on the side of the Tank one of them broke in my hand. I got two new plastic hoses fitted one of them but the other one went right around past the radiator around the other side to the drivers side and fitted under a heater hose That took me ages to fit and i will never say to my self again "how hard can it be" i will do it myself. |

Getting a new trans built and installed in the car, then the first time you drive it, 15km down the road it blows the trans cooler lines right onto the hot exhaust

It would have been 17 odd years ago, but i grenaded an auto. Got the car towed to a transmission place for a rebuild. They had the car for seemingly an eternity. Picked the car up and didnt even make it out of the street before dumped all its trans fluid. So back it went for another seemingly eternity. This time on pick up it lasted about 1 kilometre before dropping its guts. Round 3 the thing lasted about 5 months. In that time that particular transmission shop had gone out of business. Dunno why with all their quality stuff ups. So i got the car towed to a different place. They looked at it and called me saying the trans had been dropped so couldnt be fixed. So physically dropped from a height onto the ground which cracked the casing and had been booger welded back together. But these guys were good. They said theyd source a 2nd handy but might take them a little time to source. Reason being they wanted to get one out of a driving car so they could road test it before pulling it out and putting in my car. They typically didnt do second hand bits that were out and on a shelf. So these guys had my car for 2 weeks, parts and labour were $600. Put an additional 150k on that trans before i sold the car and it was trouble free. I went months without a car because of the other cowboys.

Our mechanic at work is a nice guy but nice guys dont = good mechanics.
So one of our Rosa's develops an injector pump problem, would run fine then all of a sudden wouls lose power and rattle its guts out. Old mate drove it on a school run for 4 days using the auto manually to get it moving when it played up. Sure enough auto blows up, he tells management it was the cause of the problem, 5k later for the box and chuffed at his 'fix' we start the bus, drive it down the road and the initial problem reappears. Put it over the pit, shone a light up from underneath, noticed a loose electrical connector on injector pump, take it off, clean it up, squeeze the tabs so it fits on snug, no more issues. 5k to replace an auto which blew up from being flogged as a result of a loose wire that in the end took 5 minutes to rectify. A month ago my 45 seat King Long develops a intermittent throttle issue whereby when you make even the slightest left hand turn the throttle would lock out as though the door was open. Tell oid mate about it, bad batch of diesel he says.. Um, ok, problem gets progressively worse to the point its getting dangerous, finally convince management to get it looked at by a professional. Get it scanned, door sensor failure.. Driving down the road in 6sp manual Rosa, check engine light comes on as soon as you grab 6th, goes out when you take it out of 6th. Get back to depot, report issue and get chewrd out by old mate as i shouldnt have driven it. I was like, there is no problem until it hits 6th gear, how can you tell a bus has a sensor problem with 6th gear until you get it on a road where you get into 6th gear. Tells me the check engine light could have been a brake failure... No thats a different circuit, how exactly did you become a diesel mechanic...online courses |
