Those night time shots are awesome, Geeze I love Melbourne, theres no other place for me really.
I was born and bred here however from 95' to 99' my family had a stint in Cairns and Brisbane. Hated both so we're back here in this gorgeous city. Went on a holiday to sydney last year, Hated that too. Don't know why but didn't like it. There's not much else apart from their worldwide claims to fame like the bridge and the opera house. Thats MY opinion anyway before you sydneysiders, brisweigans and cairnsarians start to hit me with "oh but this and that and this and that". Pearly Top shots mate, I stayed in the Crown tower a few weeks ago and absolutely loved looking out the windows at the city, Its awsome! |

Great photos. Im always amazed by such photos - just the sheer size of the city.
I spent the day in Melbourne last thursday, usually get over there for the day about once per month. Our office is in Castledon Plaza (did i spell that right?) up near the 30th floor.... a real big building being built next to it... Very impressive views from there. Really takes your breath away having lived in Adelaide all your life. I'd say the same thing about our Sydney office - looking out from the thirty-somethingth floor of a tower on George St and the city just keeps going and going and going. Your cities are beautiful to look at but I imagine very difficult to live in. Let's quit the fussin' and a feudin' huh? Sydney and Melbourne are beautiful cities... i imagine brizzy would be as well. Oh and the thing about no freeways in Adelaide - there's only 1 million ppl so we dont need em coming right into the CBD like you guys do!!!

Nice pics but I have to say I think Melbourne is a really ugly city.
I spent a week there this year and walked through town at night and during the day a lot of the time and have to say its a shocking city. There is just crap everywhere. It looks like it has been built on so many different times throughout the years and it just doesn't flow. Adelaide may be small but it is so well laid out and doesn't look half as terrible as Melbourne does. All you seen in Melb is taxis, trams, bums and criminals who are probably linked to the underworld! |

ok thats a really bad view of melbourne but what you have to remember that it was built over several different time periods. i dont mind the city i just hate the roads. i have been into the city and didnt feel that it was full of crims and bums but it is big so maybe youjust visisted a bad area.

I have to change what i was oringally going to write after seeing the pics K MAN has posted, the first daylight set no offence people make melbourne look like a dump.
The pics you have posted K MAN make melbourne look like a very nice city that is well worth a visit. I live on the Sunshine Coast which im my opinion is the best place on earth. Adelaide is nice but its very small ,maroochydore is bigger than Adelaide I reckon

I apologize up front if I offend any Melbornites.
During the day time Melbourn looks dull and an industrial estate. However at night it's fantastic, better than Sydney in some aspects.

We have some fantastic cities and places to see around this great country...It's what you make of these places that make it so fantastic...Everytime we move we treat it as a fantastic opportunity to see everything that the city and the surrounding area has to offer...With this mindset we have had a fantastic time...Basically we have been on holidays for the past 13years...So at the end of the year bring on Sydney and hopefully in the near future Melbourne...

Great pics there,Melbourne really does look at it's best at night with the vast expanses of the city and it's suburbs and the brightness of the city lights.
With Ausrtalia's two biggest cities, Sydney 4.2 million and Melbourne 3.6 million there's always going to be debates on which city is better,as far as views Sydney has it's habour and the Opera house while Melbourne might not have scenic views,it has class and it's precints with Restaurants and great shopping will always be a destination for visitors to come and stay in our beautiful city. Also with the Eureka Towers nearing completion with 90 floors and being Australia's tallest building it should provide some spectacular views of Melbourne Cheers John

I haven’t traveled much in Australia. I visited Melbourne for a day - thought it was pretty good but I wouldn’t want to live there. I am lucky that I get to travel overseas a bit for my uni work so I have a few pics of the big smoke in other countries...
Honk Kong: Cool city, people nice but annoying (how many "cheap soots" and "copy rolex" can one guy buy?). Macau: Poor mans Hong Kong. Kuala Lumpur: The greenest city I have been to. Nice people - BAD ROADS. The night I took the pic at the petronas towers was awsome. It was like 40 degrees, sitting at starbucks with a latte in front of fans spraying mists of water. I stayed at the Hyatt (view from my door in the second photo) which was awsome. Tokyo: Very clean city, but people aren't that friendly

Great Photos!
Although I'm with Steffo....it does look boring compared to Sydney. When I was there I didnt enjoy it much at all...except the Scottish bar I found! :P

Guys guys GUYS! You have no idea do you... try this pic I have attached. Then think of why I live here, away from cities wasting electricity (like the last pic of Melbourne) and fossil fuels and water etc etc etc.
I was having my sandwich for lunch yesterday on the edge of a mountain with my feet dangling over the edge. The fresh, crisp air, the breathtaking view, the serenity and peacefulness... as I said before, you guys have no idea.

They're trying to make that area "Cool" these days with apartments and clubs and such, but as everythings getting built it just looks like one big industrial area, and for the most part, it is, with the refineries, electrical stations and all that. That part is a dump. Had he been on the other side of the hotel however, things would have been different, however K-man has held the Melbourne flag high with his awesome photo contribution. |

At least if it happened here you'd then go to Xavier or Trinity Grammar (Hedgeburner School) to see whether anyone there's trying to sell your lost goods and you'd probably find them there! |
