$6100 + Fowles Fees...

First bid was $4k.. This bastard hit my limit before I even got to put my hand up. Hope's not wanting to repair it... Gonna be pretty expensive to fix.

And it was a aftermarket fibreglass kit too, not a genuine one.

They did have an 97 Ghia there too that went for $2100... Not a bad prices by Fowles standards.

Most EL Ghia's at Fowles go for $1900-$2900 depending on the condition and kay's FYI. I looked up like 50 thousand of them and went to auctions 4 weeks in a row when I was looking for a decent Tickford motor for my car.

That's at Fowles by the way.

Told you guys.

That compliance plate will be on a hot car within a week. Easy to move parts sold off, ID marks removed and the shell sold for scrap.

Car will still need to pass a VIV before it can be re-registered though Rob, and I hear they're pretty thorough on those checks due to all the re-birthing going on these days. I doubt it'd be as easy as you make it out to be.

Man that is nearly impossible because the car will need a WOVI. THe engineers will check the car for the repairs, a reshelling won't marry up to the data file they have on the VIN...

I've never had a VIV done and don't know anyone who has, so I don't know what they pick up on. What "surprised" you? I'd like to know just for future reference if I ever happen to wander across a cheap *** car that requires a VIV.

I had to get a WOVI on the Fairlane.. After showing all the parts receipts they wanted a reciept for the labour. Since I did it myself I had to get a stat dec. done up and signed by a JP. They also queried me on some of the plug welds I did to replace the factory spot welds UNDER the rear window rubbers... It is a tough game and although it cost me $450'ish they sure earn their money

Tell me about it... I'm still deciding whether to start wrecking mine or continue the repairs. They are pretty bloody good at picking absolutely everything, knowing if a panel has been replaced, etc, etc. Specially if a VIN stamped panel has been replaced.

Any damage to a chassis rail requires instant replacement of that rail, then a computerised printout of the entire vehicle measurements. If the measurements are not within spec, then bye bye car.

If the buyer of this EL is gonna repair this thing, hes got a big repair bill and a big fight with the VIV people... Considering the car is about 3-4cm shorter now than when Ford made it.

The only problem is that the VIV inspections are a ИИИИload stricter than an insurance repair. Insurance will pass a car if its been glued and pop rivited back together... Try it with a VIV, and they will take your $330 and tell you to **** off.

You'd be suprised at how dumb some of these guys are. I hear bits and pieces (relo deals with police reports and stuff like that), there are some bloody dumb people out there.

If they are smart it'll sit for a few months, if they are like any of the idiots I hear about they will be down at Vicroads trying it out tomorrow morning.
