Just got an e-mail back from my local dealer (Pacific Ford Maroochydore)

They tell me the part numbers don't even come up...

EDIT - I put both those part numbers in the database, and they came up. I think I'll contact Ocean Ford in Noosa.

I have a spare pair of those for anyone interested $13 ea + postage.
And I can also get the obsolete ones too if many are interested they are getting rare though.
Could also be worth looking at the BA ones but I think they may be different because of the dash shape.

The local guy did mention the BA ones but he said the screens are different so they probably wouldnt fit.
Hey does anyone know what this piece of hard yellow foamy thing is for? Reduce noise or add support to the door trim? Either way did anyone remove theirs?

Just got another reply from Pacific Ford Maroochydore.

They stuffed up (Surprise, surprise)

ER F03513 B1 is $19.36

I gave them a wrong part number too. So I'll take half the blame.

EDIT - ER F03512 B1 is no longer available.

Finally worked out where to put that box thingy.I cut part of the ghard foam section out and the box fits nicely in the gap and doesnt stop the door trim going back on.Yes i realise i cut too much away but i was in a hurry.

box thingy = crossover = what makes each speaker put out XYZ frequencys
looks like it was made for it (the hole you cut/placment of the crossover)

has anybody got more pics of 6.5" splits installed with spacers in the 5x7 holes without the trim on

as from what i could see the spacer had to be about 15mm thick to house my woofer
and was wider than the 5x7 speaker it self.. so didnt know if the trim would fit back up etc with it on (and without screwing it all together i couldnt place the trim on to see if it did fit/clear)
and having the grille on the door i could not see how much clearance the speaker had

thanks for the info so far guys!

Ok guys i finally got my speakers in,the only thing showing that they arent stock is the tweeter.
Ive attached afew pics for future guys.
1-10mm mdf painted black so you cant see thru speaker grille, made a template out of cardboard then traced onto the mdf.
2-shows the woofer in the 5x7 hole with the black mdf behind
3-shows the drivers side abit neater finish than the pass side i had to rush yesterday
4-closeup of the tweeter and grille
5-finished product.

What about using 5x7 Splits insted of 6.5's? These should just drop into the old holes? Would the old speaker hole be deep enough to fix a set of Alpine type R splits? Or would i need to use a spacer?

I have Alpine Type R 5x7 splits in the front, its a pretty tight fit. Definately have to use a spacer somewhere around 8 - 10mm from memory, i think i have a couple mm clearance behind for the window, and had to cut away a bit of the door trim so it clears that on the front you cant see the parts ive cut from the front.

I just placed the 6*9 under the parcel shelf with some extra foam on the top edge of the 6*9 and screwed them in from the bottom. I could take some photos if you wanted to see.

I have Alpine type X splits 6.5" and they go in to doors but the grills wont go back over them. You cant move them inward anymore or they hit the window. Its a case of cutting the door card and building the bottoms out when I get around to it.

Heres a Type R 5x7 in the front door. I have a layer of dynamat, the factory rubber mat thing a spacer from 6mm MDF and the spacer that came with the speaker to clear the window.

Front I had to cot down the rib things behind the speaker grill and cut part of the trim that sits behind the speaker grill. If I had have realised they werent just going to drop in I probably would have got some differen 6.5" splits but these sound great anyway.

Cool photo mate. How much better would 6.5"s over 5 x 7's sound?

I certainly wouldn't say that, but it depends on how well you mount them. A good 5x7 in the factory hole will seal up nicely, you want the front of the speaker to be sealed from the rear ideally. If you have a poorly mounted 6x9 in there it will sound worse than the 5x7. Bass should be better from a 6x9 than a 5x7, but again, depends on install, which will affect bass/clarity everything.

I've got type R 5x7s in the back of my car, with 6.5" type r splits up the front, and bass is more than adequate.
