Super Cheap Auto kind of own naming rights so because Holden are big-headed sometimes, they now think they own the race because Super Cheap sponsor Holden

I think "The Peter Brock Bathurst 1000" Proudly Brought to you by Super Cheap Auto, for 1 year would do the man justice and rename the VB Dipper as the Brockie Dipper for ever! |

No. The race shouldn't be named after Brock. By all means, dig out the old Commodores, Torana's, Sierra's, Volvo's etc, that he drove, and do an honor lap this year. Even re-name the fastest lap trophy in his honor. Maybe a memorial in pit lane or Skyline.

I think that it should be named the Peter Brock 1000 for this year, as a memorial race. Then re-name a part of the track after him for the years after.

No. Fair enough he's won it heaps of times, but we can't go naming something after everyone who drops off the perch. Before you know it it'll be the Peter Brock Jack Brabham Allan Moffat Dick Johnson Jim "you're all a pack of *********" Richards whinging old poof Super Cheap Auto Hardie Ferodo Bathurst 1000.
Leave it as Brock Skyline. Crack out all the old HDT cars for a lap around the track, but don't go over the top. I'm sure Brocky wouldn't want it. Quote:

When Senna died, there was no track named after him! ?????
He did get corners and straights named after him on different tracks... Brock has his name on Bathurst and that is all that is needed. D:

Brock also has a section of Sandown named after him, So he has been honered in life and it will continue after death.
There will be a HDT/Peter Brock spectacular at Bathurst, I'd say a day will be devoted to him with memorial, cars, ect.

How about the non championchip round at the AU Grand Prix being named after him or the first race of each season?

Don't name the race after him, but naming the winners trophy would be more appropriate.

I like the idea of bringing out all the old cars he drove, to do a hotlap.

I agree on the Charity Race. But not rename the race. Its a great jesture, butas its been said, he probabbly would want it anyway.
The Charity race when run should be called "King Of The Mountain Classic" and it should have cars participate from the years that he won bathurst. Throw the Team Broke supercars in and I think if you ran on his birthday, people could gather to celebrate his life and remember all the thing he's done. Think that would be a really nice tribute to him. |

I personaly dont agree with naming the race after him. I do think a huge amout of the show be dedicated to the great Brock, but he is already in our hearts and minds, and he will still be remembered long after we ar gone too ! I think a best and fairest type of lear long contest , similar to the AFL Brownlow medal, should be in his honour !
While I may be a true blue Ford man, Brocky will always one of my favourite racing identities ! Rest in peace Pete and get Steve to show you around up there ! We alrerady miss you both !

I dont think its a good idea, there are so many great drivers who have competed and you cannot name the race after all of them. I think a more fitting tribute is to name a section of the track and to perhaps errect a permanant sandstone type of memorial, somewhere outside of the museum to honour his efforts to the Bathurst race.

Denny Hulme didn't get it named after him, so why should Peter Brock?

I dont agree with naming the event after him, but yes to naming a part of the track or an aspect of the event with him....Maybe rename the Top 10 shootout (much like the old Hardie's Heroes) with a Brock trophy (i can picture something with a cast A9X Torana on top ) going to the winner? That plus a memorial somewhere on the track or outside the museum.

No. Thats just a kneejerk reaction. What would happen if Allan Moffatt died? Would we have to call it the "Peter Brock and Allan Moffatt 1000"... I think not.
Same to stickers on cars etc etc - all just a kneejerk reaction.
