Ah a futura might be 30k, but a ghia is nudging 50k with ORC's.

I know quite a few who have had euros and come "down" to the top of the line aussie stuff.

That's quite a good ad, be interesting to see if it gets decent airtime on good time slots. Anybody who wants in your face ACDC and all that really needs to think about what Ford is trying to sell.

Left field: I predict the Orion mega-luxury car will be known purely as 'Ghia'. It feels like not just a spec shift is being used to reposition the car. They're trying to move it away from the 'optioned Fairmont' feel that it currently has.

New line up: XT (+ SR) -> Futura* -> Ghia (+ Ghia Turbo)
*In this scenario Futura would pick up a couple extra Fairmont 'bits'.

Sorry to go offtopic, back to the ad.

After my first look at shots of the BFII Ghia to now seeing it in vids and in the flesh I have to say its a damn good looking car and "in the metal" the facelift has done enough to show it's the latest model. I imagine, if you squint long and hard enough some strong clues to Orion are there waiting for us to realise in the future.

As to the actual vid ad, it might be "too clever" but once word spreads about the European flags then everyone will want to look more closely. And I say it's a classy ad for the model positioning and potential buyer....more airtime please...and it's a zillion times better then "you'd be popular too"..ads...finally someone in Ford marketing actually is earning their salary.

Some of Bangle's "mangles" certainly have a wow factor. ...as in "wow how butt ugly is that new bimmer????.....then again it would be facinating to see how ugly a bimmer could go before even the "badge snobs" decided to go elsewhere?

whats wrong with the ads of cars doing nuts with acdc in the background?

maybe the slogan could be "Ford Fairmont Ghia - Finally you can cut nuts in style and luxury"

i'm guessing the BF2 Ghia is being marketed separately, and 'segregated' from the other cars in the range in preparation for the end of the LWB models. The Ghia is basically competing with the Calais, Statesman & Caprice now.

Perhaps they can do a range of ads for the car catering for different demographics...

Fairmont Ghia - Its pimpin'

Fairmont Ghia - LSD *and* 6 stack for all your ACDC albums

Fairmont Ghia - Enough rear parcel shelf capacity for 62 bowling hats

Fairmont Ghia - It cuts sik laps bro.

Fairmont Ghia no longer has a LSD. Even as a option.

Apparently Ford was going to put a LSD into it, but doing so would disrupt the space time continuum and cause all the atoms of the universe to simultaneously convert to pure energy resulting in a huge universe sized nova resulting in the end of the universe at a much quicker heat death than first thought with just entropy running down. Stephen Hawkings himself had to phone Tom Gorman directly to ensure he knew of the status quo which he had to negotiate with Geoff previously.

Agreed.

It's the first Ford ad I've seen downunder that I'd consider classy which makes sense given it's advertising a Fairmont Ghia. Better than a bogan style ad.

Subtly clever with the use of landscapes representing flags of certain countries too, I'd add.

That a very smart way to advertised the new Fairmont Ghia ad. Well done ford and i like the new Ghia. I want one now, it hot!

Interesting.....

My brother drives a BMW 740iL top of the range. He paid $19k for it (slightly secondhand). It goes like a snail and costs a fortune to be serviced but he loves it because his friends think he is rich and important, after all he is driving a BMW.

I like the new ad and I like the car. It is a well priced luxury vehicle and ideal for Australians. You have to remember that most of Austraila is NOT in the middle of Sydney and european cars are a bit rare in the bush, not because of the price rather because of the road conditions.

I have owned five Fairmont Ghias and if FPV had not made the GT-P or F6 that number would probably be seven. All of my Ghias had over 100k when I sold them (my EA had 250k) and I never had a problem with any of them. I used to spend a lot of time driving on dirt roads and using "bush shortcuts" everywhere.

Very nice ad.... as soon as I saw it, I thought it's about time....

I like the Caprice ad better... looks cool - lets just hope that they put that puzzle together correctly.... lol.

I think a sporty ad for the new FPV range would top it off nicley... rather then just a few photo shots....

How about an ad for the XT? Show a few taxi's? A few cop cars... a few taxi's that are actually cop cars.... lol...

I agree about getting the XT some credibility, but I don't think the ad should appeal to Cabbies and Cops. They don't even think twice before buying their cars in most cases.

Only because they were somehow allowed to use a 7.0 litre V8 instead of the factory 5.7, in a PRODUCTION CAR category. The rest of the cars had factory engines

You get that. But the 7lt was still Gen3. I don't think any car in that field was a production car even if they tried too make you believe it because the monaro killed them. Got too blame something or someone.

Local bloke here owns 2005 BMW 740iL but loves his Fairlane 6spd. Prefers the ride across country and will use Fairlane for any serious k trip including Great Ocean Road.
Fords are OZ built for OZ and still highly underrated and undervalued cars perfectly suited to this country.

I think the ad was pretty straight forward just getting the message out in simply black and white. I guess we were expecting an ad something like the territory ''eats sports cars for breakfast'' or ''must be stuck in 3rd'' but really its clarifying and defining the attributes of a luxury spec model

Actually reminds of mercs or audi ad's going back a few years now but despite that the chick in the ad you can tell she was wrapped with the car, just look where her hands was going!!! lol Maybe they should telecast the ad after 10 00 loll

What it tells you is all ads are BS and your not looking at the real picture just the you know what one;).

The GTP has enough trouble beating itself But it's got too beat something.

Know that for a fact do you? The amount of LS engines around is enough too confuse bob Lutz.

Copycat : I know your one of them they call the others there around in blue and red shirts.
