Its it pathetic that young argo males are taking up the fight from the older generation that has started and is ongoing.
If these boys see war for what it is they would change there ways.
Bury the past and move on its no use playing the blame game

You're right, the vast majority (read 98%+) have no clue. Some do, and you'll find they're also the ones who usually stay out of such conflicts.

An interesting thread!

Here are my thoughts.

1. I hate this kind of violence. It just churns up old hatred, grudges and keeps them going.

2. These attitudes are passed fom parents to their young.

3. Aussies often find it hard to understand why this sort of thing takes place. Our country is the most stable, despite it's multiculturalism. The anger and hatred in some of these ethnic conflicts goes back 1000's of years. Each group hurting / dominating the other. We can't really understand it because our white history is so short. Our country is mostly united, we have oodles of resources, life is pretty good for all here. We often take this for granted.

4. In 1992-3 I spent 3 weeks with my mother and sister in Cyprus. They were born there, I was born here. That country is still divided, with the turkish invasion of 1976 (I think 76). It was almost 20years since that invasion, but the hurt / venom and bitterness was so evident towards the Turkish people.

5. Unless people forgive and give up the desire for vengance and retribution, these sorts of cycles will never end. Never!

Take Iraq. Saddam is outed, and all the clan rivalries (within the same religion mind you!) crank up again. They are killing each other, other Muslims!

These sorts of eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth struggles never, ever end UNLESS people learn to forgive and let go of their desire to pay back!

These young guys are caught in this horrible cycle.

Sad thing really!

Maybe tennis is just playing catch up. Plenty of fights/brawls and idiotic behavior at the Cricket and Soccer........

The media report should have read> Immature F**kwits disrupt tennis game and help destroy Australian way of life.
I hope u get this passionate next time the Aussies at the cricket abuse the kiwis, Indians, Pakistanis, sri lankans, poms etc and also hurl rubbish & other projectiles along with their abuse and racism.

Maybe u can send them back on the same boat via mainland europe.

I'm not condoning the tennis violence and any violence that happens at public events but unlike most of u that are quick to jump on the patriot bandwagon and beat your chest about "don't like it, u can ***** off" and then follow it up with a "we are so multicultural" statement. Those are the most venomous incitefull types of veiled statements that we as a multicultural society should also stamp out.

Its time people who don't understand (and I'd argue - never will, and in this country, shouldn't have to,) the various ethnic disputes that are part and parcel of so many different nations, see it for what it is - thuggery, and it should be dealt with in nothing but legal terms and penalties.

The day the media and following public describe these morons as trouble makers and deal with them as criminals for committing a criminal act, we will be better off, lumping them into ethnic factions because 1 group wore chequered shirts and the other in red, blue, white stripes is segregation of the highest order. There may be reasons but they are NEVER AN EXCUSE.

I have friends from everywhere and have seen similar issues between greeks/macedonians/turks, japanese/koreans, indians/pakistani etc etc etc.
I myself herald from a Balkan background and have seen first hand the worst of the worst that goes on in countries at war, believe me when i say u don't want to be a part of it. Maybe the bulk of these misguided youths are born here, but I'd also assume that they still have very strong family ties and relations with the parents homeland. This will always be at the core of the problem and until people living here understand that we don't care about the spark for the action but we want those involved to understand that serious jail time is what awaits anyone participating and inciting such stupidity, things won't change.

Agreed Sarge but the sledging that occurs at the Cricket (Bay13 particularly) is atleast light hearted at it's conception - slightly different to the motivations displayed at the Tennis.
This **** needs to stop along with the other plethora of crap that has worked it's way into our Australian life over the past 20 years or so.

The difference b/w the sledging at the cricket and the punch on at the tennis are kind of obvious.....namely there were no English or Kiwis involved.

This was just a bunch of bored d-ckheads, being d-ckheads and then justifying their d-ckhead actions by pointing at something that happened somewhere else, to someone else at some other time......its obvious isn't it ??

I blame the Media, the Government, the DSE, Naomi Robson, John Howard, and Lleyton Hewitt.

Polyal - What a bloody disgrace! How pathetic can some individuals be! :

This is what really gets my blood boiling, these people are worthless thugs who jump on any bandwagon to fire up and have a brawl.

And of all the places, the tennis! Its a family orientated event.

Apparently, according to the news report, it was some Serbians VS Croatians. What could they possibly be fighting about? Some crap that happened x years ago in a country they dont even live in.
These losers seem to forget that citizens of each of the key three nations are trying to get on with life, trying to put this bullshi7 behind them.

Its people like this that stuff you our society, and tarnish our otherwise good reputation of a multicultural society.
Australian can take its multiculturalisim and shove where the sun don't shine. The word itself is utterly divisive, it stinks full-stop, l tell that to anyones face, and do. It sucks, its unfair to all, including migrants to be tagged. We are who we are and need no singling out.

And its not just the "men", the women were in there chanting some crap aswell, great role models!
The western world is under attack from political correctness and full-on nanny state incorporation. That will be our undoing. Little wonder the rise of the pan-European the right in Europe in the EU parliament.

Spare a centralist like me from the hard-core socialist extreme left.

Australia is about the promotion of 'mediocrity'.

Wow Keepleft. A post I wholeheartedly agree on. Oh and by the way, people who think this kind of thing is someone elses problem, Uncle chop Chop says "Harden the stuff up". Its Australias problem. We need to tell people who come here from other countries, live like us, forget your old ways, or dont bother coming in.

A wise Englishman once said........

"As I look ahead, I am filled with foreboding; like the Roman, I seem to see "the River Tiber foaming with much blood". That tragic and intractable phenomenon which we watch with horror on the other side of the Atlantic but which there is interwoven with the history and existence of the States itself, is coming upon us here by our own volition and our own neglect. Indeed, it has all but come."

This is now Australia's future.............."Your Future and that of your children."

Enoch was right.

I really hate it when people are born in this country, educated in this country, insured by the country and protected by the law of this country, but their first loyalty is to their parent's homeland. As can be seen in the case of the Serbs and Croats, many of the stinkers who were involved in the fracas are carrying a burden that should have ended the second their parents entered Australia.

Our country was born with the shaking of hands...not through a war.
If people want to continue on a stupid doctrinal war of 100 years ago, they are most welcome to Fly Qantas back to Serbia or Croatia and continue their crap there.

Came back from the Open about 20 minutes ago and not to bash, but a big bunch of Croats were talking out loud, shouting etc. during the match, despite the chair umpire asking them to be quiet as well as several in the crowd telling them to "shut the ******* up."

Wish Martin Bryant could have taught some of these snot nosed shits a lesson.

And I have Croatian friends. They don't care about their war with the Serbians, and respect their right to coexist peacefully in the greatest country on Earth.

Some people move on.

Some are stuck in the stone age.
