I remember working at Supercheap Penrith and been given the chilling news the next day that an entire brake rotor went missing. Goooone! A brake rotor!!

I remember years ago at Civic Video Mt Pritchard and chasing three kids down a street while they carried a stack of videos. Chased dem till they dropped the stock.

Ha ha! I was the only employee of them to have recovered stolen stock.

It Reminds me of this guy

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSr6X7di1hY

i work at safeway, and the amount of theft in my store alone is rediculous...
there was one particular night where our local cop shop was full of idiots trying to steal from crap from our store.

i also work in the liquor department, and the lengths that people go to hide alcohol and spirits in just stupidity...

hahaha, that guy reminds me of my dad chasing a bloke who broke in via the roof of the IGA, the bloke ran and fell through the roof. he was a bloke who broke just broke out of gaol.

Dad told me, hours after it happened, and i went to work that afternoon and saw the massive hole it left in the roof... just missed the Deli cabnets, he could of had glass and raw meat to soften his fall.

Same with Taget. A mate used to work there and the security messages were fake.

we had a staff member steal $15,000 over a year, no wonder the tills didnt balance on her shifts...

There were 2 jokers stealing JB small batch, and i saw them stuff it down their pants, and i followed them outside, one saw me and started running, and the small batch fell down one leg and under his foot, he tripped and fell into the steel/concrete bollard, the other one got grabbed by an off duty copper. i sure as hell didnt want to grab him, i dont get paid enough to get my 455 kicked.

the off duty copper enjoyed his small batch, it never did make it back onto the shelf, must have been dropped and some dishonest person didnt give it back....

When I bought my music shop in Oct. 1978 , and was a Roland Dealer . Some of the older muso's may remember the first Roland Guitar Synths (GR 500)! Les Paul style Guitar connected to Synth Unit with a 27 socket lead.

My first christmas there "someone" decided to unplug the Guitar & walk off with it during the christmas rush . Guess what , the Guitar was no use without the Synth unit & Visa-Versa .

They got a Guitar they couldn't do anything with , I got a Synth unit I couldn't do anything with and was $ 2,500 out of pocket . That was a LOT of money in those days .

Shoplifters I have caught always had a similar thing to say " Aww hell , you can afford it " . Anyone who has a small business knows that you can't .

No wonder large stores lose millions & guess who pays for it , US .

So if the "fake" announcements stops someone pinching something , it's saving you money .

Are you sure those messages aren't pre-recorded, ' security to section A' then 'section C, etc. and it plays every half hour? :nutsycuck

I dont know if its still the case, but as far as I know its not illegal to put stuff in your pockets as long as your still in the store. Its just a way of carrying the goods. You havent stolen it until you've left the store. And once you have left the store, the security guard cant touch you because he works for the store and has no authority outside of the store. Be different if they have already called the cops of course.

my dad used to work at bondi and his mate saw a guy put water in his pocket. it was the same brand as the one his store sells so the he asked him for the reciept for the water. the bloke made a huge scene. saying he had no water making a comotion. the worker so infuriated because he knew he had the water. he then grabbed him by the collar. my dad came over and held the guy back. while his friend called the police. the police came and searched the man.

he had the water but it wasnt from there store. turns out the bloke was claiming compo because he sued the store and got a pay out. the idiot got greedy and tryed to sue my dad and his mate. the judge saw right through it all and he was forced to pay everyone back. the details are abit sketchy but thats what i can remember. its good to see he copped it in the end though. i mean they were only doing there jobs in asking the mad to show him the water. it was wrong for the guy to snap at the customer but some people are just trying for a way of a payout.

You must be a real tough guy to be strong enough to have a go at "wannabe cops" that are just trying to do their job. :

And you will find that most cameras are not there to look at customers either, staff theft costs companies more per year than shoplifting ever will.

Think thats bad, my GF used to work for Woolworths at a Servo, in a relatively dodgey area and stuff all of their camera's actually worked aswell.

And when they record onto the back up tape, as it cycles, only one camera is taped, so if someone one was quick/good enough you could drive up, rob the place, and walk out and not be recorded. The chances are slim, but possible.

Used to work in a **** empire (2 dollar shop) owned by woolies. The so-called security scanner and alarm at the front door was nothing more than a remote operated panic alarm.
If you saw someone lifting stuff you reported it to the manager who would hit the remote as the person got to the doors and hope they didn't run.
Might've been fake but it would catch out 4-5 people a day.
Now a storeman for woolies and the camera at the back door is a pain as it's impossible to sneak out for a smoke when things are quiet. As soon as I light one up there's conveniently a telephone call for me or something.

Supercheap. woolies and coles i know do this, All major supermarkets do this, when i worked at coles i signed a piece of paper saying that i have to make a security call at least once an hour. Its just to keep people they maybe stealing aware that people are apparently watching and its also to keep the security guards on there feet.

The funniest thing ive seen is an old lady around her 80's stealing a pack on condoms lol good on her lol.

we have loss prevention alot in summer, since we are across the road from the beach. we've caught loads of 10yo's stealing. what most thieves do is fill up baskets, then run out of the fire exit, so as soon as the alarm goes off, all staff are running through the registers to head off the thieves lol. i love the false alarms set off by the office ladies not entering the pin fast enough lol, we still run, for nothing... also, our security guards arent aloud to do anything :S

You could tell they are fake 'coz of all the cameras they have in store. I mean why would you have 3 in every aisle?

Was in Supercheap yesterday morning when the announcement came on. The funny thing was that I was the only customer in the store and I was standing by the checkout talking to the manager at the time.

I work at a Kmart store in the lovely western suburbs... some of the security calls are pre-recorded. however, we have a sign off sheet that has to be filled in every day. it's broken up into 15 minute blocks, and a security call must be made every 15 minutes, and then signed off on this damn sheet. it drives me to tears... our average security call is something along the lines of 'securiteeeeeeeeeyyyy to section foiiiiiive and noiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine'

and yep, no one can do anything about you putting stuff into your pockets until you leave the store, as technically you haven't stolen it as yet.
