I reckon the pick of your Kiwi beers is Speitz.. "Pride of the south" You can drink gallons of it & wake up clear headed, probably because of the minimal chemicals in it compared with our CUB stuff

bloody aussie beer... if I had to pick an Aus beer, I'd go with VB. But overall I must say Guiness!
NZ beer: Steinlager

Stella Artois for me, although other Belgium beers like Chimay and Leffe leave it for dead in the taste stakes. Fav. Aussie beer would have to be Boags premium, and I agree Crown Lager is overrated although it's probably more closely related to Melbourne Bitter than VB. Most CUB beers taste alright at the time, but kill you the next day due to the use of chemicals to speed up the brewing process.

any "beer" that needs a lemon shoved into it to hide the taste instantly loses the classification "beer" and becomes a girls drink :P

Coopers Pale or Tooheys Xtra Dry. And i don't know how people claim VB is the best or most popular. its definately the worst. Australians have much better taste than that, as this little poll demonstrates. Or maybe FORD people have much better taste.

LOL. not only has Fosters not got a vote (and I doubt it will) but does anyone actually drink that crap?
I have to say the last Fosters I had was still in a ringpull can.... and it will be the last I have too. Complete garbage.

mmm You guys dont seem to know your beers very well.....Kilkenny great drop, Stella for sure and when you can find it...St Arnou Pale is like the nectar of the gods. there is also Old Speckled Hen, Old Fart and Black Sheep (all english Beers). I dont really drink much of the Local Stuff anymore life is too short to drink cheap beer, BOAGS would have to be the best local stuff followed by Coopers Pale..I dont mind a drop of the Boddingtons either. Currently me and my mates are working outrselves though a couple of slabs of James Squire Pale Ale...which is a great drop.

Carlton Draught. Bought myself a longneck just then. I much prefer to get smashed on spirits. In both cases it takes a lot and is expensive. I like VB if its the only beer there. But carlton draught is my fav. Boags Premo is alright. Usually anything that will get me smashed Ill drink. Not really picky

Got a couple of mates who hail from the U.S. And I had to explain to them that Australians DO NOT drink Fosters, we sell it overseas or use it to clean the sparkplugs on our mowers.

the best beer i have ever had is James Squire Golden Ale. It was just summer brew but it was outstanding. Awesome body and flavour with an excellent aftertaste. It may be getting made regulary and if it does I highly recommend it. Superb beer.

As a person who does a lot of travelling to China I have to say Corona, cause u either drink Corona or u drink local Chinese crap. For any corona drinkers that put a slice of lemon in the top, STOP BEING A FAIRY. Just pick up your bottle throw the lemon away and drink it, tastes alot better without it.
(This message was bought to you by BIG Luke, currently in China and sucking down 20 Corona's a nite)

i'll drink my own homebrew anyday over commercial megaswill. Best commercial beer IMO though is Little Creatures Pale Ale made in Perth.

Sooooo many good beers not making this list.
I'll drink anything, but love a good Belgain beer like a Hoegaarden Forbidden fruit or Leffe (any sort). Aussie beers worth a mention: Redback Bohemian Pilsner Any beer from Tasmania (especially the Cascade 4 seasons range - and the best of that series, the Summer Blonde) Dog Bolter Carlton Black Ale Coopers (as long as its rolled befoer opening) Little Creatures I could be here all day typing but the fact is i can't choose one, but as an alcho I will drink anything and be happy with it.... *except tooheys new* : |

You guys are drinking the popular commercial stuff are getting rorted by the big companies making absolute sh*t! Some arent too bad, i'll buy Carlton Draught if i need a slab cheap but they all adjust their brewing techniques to get the most amount per day. The better local ones I've found are the coopers range (pale ale, sparkling and stout), Redback, Beez Neez (honey wheat beer), Newcastle Brown Ale, Boags Premium and James Squire Pale or Amber Ale. They have heaps more flavour than the popular brands
Start homebrewing and experiment with different kits and recipes and get into the really nice stuff...VB will taste like horse **** after you have a decent beer. I've done a fair few recipes now and not only is it easy, but you get 2 cartons worth for around $20 (depending on recipe), a much better taste Overall the best beers i've tasted would all be from the Belgian region where the monks perfected it, Hoegaarden, Leff Blonde & Brown, Stella or Chimay. I've got a Hoegaarden Brew which is ready for bottling tonight so it'll go down a treat! Guiness, Kilkenny, Tetley's Ale and some of the porters are good too |
