I am going to be changing my Nankangs ... they are average.
I was going to get the Ventus K104s next ... but at the moment the Maxxis MA-Z1s are on special in 235/45R17 format ... and apparently a very good tyre as well. Bob Jane has them for $135 a piece from memory .... cheap for a good tyre. I might go and buy some now and sit 'em in the shed till I am ready for a new set.

Oh OK ... I just keep hearing really good reports on them that's all.
I keep hearing good reports on both the K104s and MA-Z1s ... so I was tossing up whether or not to get them.

Look I'm not saying the Maxxis is absolute rubbish but ppl arn't comparing apples with apples imo.
Maxxis will do the job for sure but not to the standard of the K104's. I have had a set and I won't buy them again.

I have had K104's on my ute for the past 20,000k's and found them to be a great tyre. Not a great deal of road noise and hang on like **** to a blanket. In both wet and dry.

Was mentioned in the Wheel/Tyre technical section ... unless the offer has ended already.

There's a big difference between the MA-V1s and the MA-Z1s ... the Z1's are a much better tyre though after reading a few reports and also hearing reports off others.
I have heard great things from several forum members about the K104s too ... so it makes the decision difficult. I am not one for abusing tyres either ... so I want something that is going to last ... my current Nankangs are around the 50,000km mark ... I am sure I could get another 10-15,000km left in them ... but I am find the fronts wearing a little wierd ... rear's are fine thanks to leaf springs/no adjustment/straight up and down. One good thing I like about the K104s is that they are a higher load rating tyre (97) compared to all the others (93-94) ... so i am hoping they are a better load carrying tyre for the ute. Not that I carry too much all the time ... but there is the odd time I can get loaded up.

Been watching this thread with interest as I am due for new rubber, I am going up a size though and putting some 18x8 rims on. Dont want to go any wider, just want to change the style a bit.
The packakge I am looking at comes with Kumho tyres in 235/45/18 (I have to use this profile, 40 wont fit), so in that size Id assume they are Kumho Ecsta's? I have priced up a set of MA-Z1's from Bob Jane here and I laughed at the price they gave me, but still have a few more places to try. I have previously heard about Nexen tyres, are these any good? GT Radials I refuse to go basck to, too bloody noisy, Dunlops I have now (SP3000) and while they are good, once they wear a bit they are ordinary.
