I think the Subaru Brumby could lay claim to that, if not some of those south african bakkies, or south american bantams that were utes based on small cars. Don't know which ones came first though.

I'm assuming it was the bakkies, cause this Cortina Bakkie would be early 70's.

Today, walking out the shop, parked beside me was a mint bone stock 5L vp commodore executive. Judging by the old bloke getting out of it and the disabled permit, it might be a 1 owner car.

Thats the one you want to keep tabs on, any time you see some old bloke getting around in a mint condition Falcon or Commodore keep an eye on them, when he keels over approach his kids and offer em $500 and they'll probably take it having zero idea what old boys 'old ****box Commodore' is worth

Deceased estate is great for bargain hunting good condition older cars - forget 'barn finds' we're going boomer finds.

Many moons ago, my brother bought 'jim' from a deceased estate. So $1500. A relatively low kay 1980 vc in good shape. Booring as 202 trimatic car but had a vynal roof.
For the past 20 something years he has had shazza. 107 thousand kays, 82 vh, factory 253 car. Bought for a grand as the old owner couldnt afford the mechanic bill. Fun story about shazza, it was actually my first girlfriends mums car.

I might have mentioned it earlier, but I still drive around in my mum's '88 626.
I often play' spot an older car on the road or in the car park'
In Canberra I win most of the time.

The other way to be unique in Canberra is don't jaywalk in the CBD, those pedestrian crossing signals seem more 'recommendation' rather than 'law' over there

Have not seen an XC GXL V8 in years...

A few ratty XC sixes around online for sale... Imagine owning a six cylinder XC... Lol.
I bet I could moonwalk frontways faster than those things reach 100km/h.

The rear end is a bit funny, I reckon the coupe from the 2000's was a bit nicer.

A clean 159 still gets me looking too; timeless design.

Any car that can chuck laps around Mt Panorama and lifts the inside wheel through the Dipper gets a nod from me...

Yeah the rear end looked a little stumpy. But i don't mind it.

The 159 was gorgeous too. When they didn't break down of course.

house are a bi*ch, I had a mk2 Zepher convertible in white wore pipeskin jeans with cuffs rolled up and a (fake) leopard skin shirt.
2 months after I sold it, one of my Mini Coopers caught fire when no one home and destroyed everything. House was burnt to the ground. 1972
