mate there was a movie many years ago it related to a petrol shortage and people killed for it now i know that there's not a shortage of it at the moment
but if the petrol company's and goverment keep trying to jack the little people thing's could get a little violent out there i hope it don't but the possabiaties are endless

Was an artificial shortage tho... after the arabs stopped supplying them.

Interestingly, in the context of your earlier post... they think the reduced consumption during the period of the oil embargo actually delayed the peaking of oil by some years. A blessing in disguise so it were! Was also some amazing stuff on how oil came to be.

heard on the radio today that of all things the price is going up coz , yes of all things even thou the price of us oil going down , its coz its sommer brake in the us and may push prices ova $1.50 - WTF - and we're not even ment to be tied to the us market we are ment to be tied to the singapore market
so the us public goes on holidays and we pay more for fuel ??????

Here's the thing. We use the singapore mops index to determine wholesale costs of fuel. But the singapore index is reflective of the global market.

That's the key. Global market.

The US gets most of its oil and refined product internationally. That means when their domestic supply takes a hit... or if their demand increases... it has an impact on the global market... because it impacts the US demand for international product.

This is why US summer, winter (fall and spring not as bad), holidays, hurricanes, strikes etc have such a dramatic impact on our fuel prices. Because they use so much more of the stuff than anyone else.

You dont see global prices rise because of a long weekend which is a popular driving holiday in New Zealand.

I reiterate my earlier comments and Volcom, having seen that doco, will probably agree.

We will soon beg for the days of $1.50/L fuel.

I heard a story last week that the current oil price rise was due to the US sending 12 war ships in the gulf down the cannal (towards iran) and the oil companies have got a bit nervous about the possibility of supply issues again so the price has risen short term as a result, anyone else heard this?
