We borrowed my uncle's EA S Pack on a family holiday when I was 11 or 12. Loved it. Always thought they looked good.
But the one that I HAD to have, was a B series XR. Every time I saw one in Blueprint, I'd lose my train of thought. I still get sidetracked walking past the garage, or through the yard at work just looking at mine. Only other car I'd want (I still wouldn't give up my XR6) is a BF F6.

When I was at Uni, advertising banners for the car below were everywhere, I remember thinking Whoa that is tough, I just wanted one. Sorry for the small pic, it's the only one I can find.
The XE ESP was also another model that made me go Whoa but that was after the EL XR8. |

Of all the Fords I've loved before, these have always been my pick:
but I am more partial to the utes. Since then I've been keen on the ED Sprints, but have really been taken by the FG, even more-so after spending a weekend with a G6E. So who knows what next year will bring? Ed

Digging this pic up reminds me of those little finned wiper attachments that all cool Fords had in the 70's and 80's. Don't know if they did anything, but you had to have them.

Not really a woah car. But after the fiasco that was the AU, to see the new BA in that ad that I really enjoyed certainly made me go woah.
And I know a lot of being think they are ugly as, but the GT90 did about the same too.

Walking home from school reading a mag with the XE Ghia ESP vs VH SL/X comparo with the Ford getting the nod,... the gold rims, wide rubber, 2-tone paint, Scheel seats, and then suddenly walked into our driveway, head down still drooling....and ..."wack" literally kneed an all black XE Ghia ESP parked in our driveway....

for me it was the BA XR6T vowed to own one with a manual and in phantom purple before I turned 30 - I got it a couple months prior to my 30th still astounds me how good the car is, but lately those supercharged gts and the GT "BLACK" looks like absolute horn! I don't think I will ever own one of those unless its completely knackered and I spend 5 years of my life resto'ing it...

I love the look of the new GT with 5L supercharged boss. Sexy as hell. Although a bit obvious, still love the look and the sound of GTHO Phase 3.
And the stand out for me, is the Ford Territory Turbo Ghia - pity it isn't still being made... All 3 cars, when they come up behind you in the rearview mirror look the business end of some serious power! |

OK here's a really strange list from someone in their '50s.
Next door neighbour's son came to visit once in an XP Squire Wagon; XR GT was simply awesome when it was released, but so too was the XT in candy apple red with the silver reflective stripe; Can then remember drooling over an XY GS wagon in Jewel Green (or whatever it was called) with gold stripe when they were frst released; Then came the XA/B Hardtops. The one that really made me say "Whoa" was a wild violet XA Fairmont with white vinyl roof that was sitting on a used car yard in 1978 and I just happened to need a car as I had written the XA Wagon off a couple of months before - "whoa" it was mine although I still thought the XB looked tougher. Worked in a dealership through the XE - EA era so had to say good things about all of them although the one that did impress was an NA Fairlane that the general manager had special trim put in and a supercharger bolted on. Didn't get excited for a long time and was looking for another toy about six years ago and saw a red '65 Galaxie Convertible advertised for about the price of an average XP Hardtop and cheaper than a registered Mustang - "Whoa" had to have it - still got it and still reckon they are the most underpriced classic on the market. There's also an orange Mustang similar to the one posted by 66 stang around town and my neck snaps every time I see it.

AUIII 220kw XR8 in blueprint on runout, brand spanking, in 2002. Wow.
I could have bought it and it would have been stupid. Kind of wish I did. EB GT brand spanking in 1992. I'd just got my licence and it was beyond a dream in those recessionary days, but the way the dark paint shone as the sun sank into the ocean, and the radical, mean body kit... My XW 302 Fairmont wagon. Beautiful. I'd go out to the shed just to look at it. AUII Fairmont Wagon, V8 with all Tickford enhancements, near new in 2003. The sound, the looks, and the value of the deal its owner told me he got. |
