I'd love to see the GT-HO re introduced. However Ford couldn't just 'tweek' a GT and slap on a badge.
Like other have said, MAKE it a HO.
No fancy gizzmos
No fancy seats just Light weight interior
HARD/STIFF suspension with wide rear

and you just alienated a massive possible customer base...

current buyers want gizmos

and nice interiors

and comfort

and most of all, theyre lazy. so want auto. plus auto is generally quicker than manual these days anyway.

It would be a marketing boon at this point , with a track oriented tickle up as has been suggested and possibly slightly more power, itd not too disimilar to what the original HO's were compared to the standard GT's.
I think we need some perspective here.

Its is what it is , I still maintain that as a business you would expect them to use all means necessary to sell the product and help generate excitement around the brand, just in pragmatic terms.

anyway, what is that they say about opinions...

this is the hero car of the 70`s, the pinnacle that even most holden guys hold in high regard, even though the FG GT is a ripping car, it`s faster (blistering fast), better braked, it idles smoothly, it`s not grumpy to start up in the morning, it has a clutch like a corrola, power steering, luxury and after 41 years deveopment , to be expected,

but the XY GTHO was a beast ,it was loud,it was a handful on a race track, it had no safety aids other than a seat belt, it was from an era of full on white knuckle racing fought tooth and nail with the opposition, and it was raced as it was built pretty much, if it was reborn today it would be the DEVIL, it had a character all it`s own that will never be seen again, as did other bathurst models from that era , like the early 350 monaro`s , Torana XU-1`s, E49 chargers
and from an old geyser, that`s my take on why the GTHO name is so revered and what a lot of us are a bit hesitant to use and possibly water down the iconic GTHO name, nothing whatever to do with mothballed investment cars.

They should have used GT-SC for all the 5.0 variants because these are the first supercharged GTs.

For this new variant, GT-HO has got to be a winner... but and I think its BS that it will upset those with the originals, I can't see how it could possibly devalue them, the opposite would be the case, I reckon.

GT-HO should be left in the past, there is no way a current GT with a few mods will match the pedigree of the original, all the reviewers will simply criticize it for trying to hard and no positives will come out of it ...

GT-H will have people go, WTF is the H?? its also sounds kinda funny and incomplete ...

R-Spec or S-Spec belongs to the Japanese crowd, these labels have a meaning and some recognition on a number of Japanese performance cars, but they don't belong on any European, Australian, American cars ...

GT 351 could work if FPV will officially rate the engine at 351Kw, otherwise it will sound silly ...

Personally I think FPV should just call it GT MY2013 or GT MarkII as in reality the wider tires and stiffer suspension is what the GT was supposed to come out with from day 1! So now with FPV finally catching up to what everyone has been saying since the release of the GT, it does not automatically warrant some supper special badge in my opinion...

They are catered for within the GT-P and GT-E market.
Just saying that a "HO" badge should be pure performance. A lot like some of the JDM model cars in Japan.

the original HO legacy has been blown so far out of proportion by fans that have never owned, and never will own one. its not some sort of immortal. a competitor released a 6 cyl that was just as quick back in the day for crying out loud.

no one cared that they slapped a GT badge on the boot of a eb or el falcon that wasn't exactly a hipo v8 and yet now we have a car coming that is rumoured to be up to 3sec quicker round a certain track and apparently the HO badge will dilute some sort of fantasy of people who are living in the past.

its 2012. we have a very potent FPV. time to re start/continue the journey!!

the irony is, if FPV released a car in the same vein as HSV did with the 427, some almost supercar with massive power and awesome handling for $150k and called it the HO, and magazine journo's spoilt themselves over it in every review saying how complete it was and how fitting to wear the HO badge etc, nearly everyone on here would applaud FPV for producing a car that was 'befitting the badge' and yet the reality would be that the sales would be a disaster.

now we have them releasing a car that is within reach of a reasonable percentage of people in that market, with enough tweaks to set it apart from a GT, and the HO badge would more than likely make it a sales success, and yet the fans all go boo boo.

Why not make these upgrades standard on all new GT's. Leave the GS with its current setup. That way a GS with a Tune wont be as good as a GT.
