I posted this on social media last night, Labor really shot themselves in the foot. Especially in Queensland. "If Labor lose this, it's probably because they demonised Coal. Coal miners and their families would of most likely voted Labor all their lives. It might be a crucial strategic error."

could be worse, we could be American (wear around 1/2 of the voters don't vote).
I think we a bit like footy supporting (1/2 of us go for one team, the other don't) UK

She left her mark already by helping to weaken our borders - so no big loss.

Labours transition away from Blue collar worker policy, pushing the shutting down of the very industries that supported them for years and backing minorities above all else is what cost them alongside having a leader with as much personality as stale bread.
I’m traditionally a LNP voter but was not sure I could support them this time with the Turnbull/Bishop period, but ScoMo against Billy boy and his policies to appease the UN before all else made it a bit easier again. |

Chasing the green vote was dumb. Greenies talk loud about climate change but in reality 95% of the population couldn’t care less. Just look how few seats the greens won. They are a joke.
Albanese would have been a better choice for leader. No one really liked shorten. |

If LNP gets a majority in the lower house then Champagne Socialist Zali is going to be a one trick wonder. I see the lovely Sarah Hanson Young got reelected from Adelaide, the first thing I was greeted with was her ugly mug on corflutes when I entered Adelaide by road earlier this year. |

Approach a voting booth because they've been a life-long member of a Party, just vote for what their dad, neighbour or Boss tells them to - or what their T.V tells them to do....walk up to a ballot box with a blindfold on and vote - then blame everyone else (including their own) when it doesn't work out. We're the lucky country because of our geographical location, plain and ****** simple. We don't need walls, we have oceans. Imagine Australia with our recent Prime Ministers located in the middle or Africa, or Europe... We'd be screwed. Or America - with the human wave of immigrants (supporting by the opposing party), laced with human trafficking, corruption, gangs...and cartels? Plz. |

I'm traditionally an ALP voter but this election was the first time One Nation contested in my electorate and I wanted to send a message, so I voted One Nation followed by United Australia, then a couple of minors with LNP in 6th, ALP 7th followed by Greens last - I essentially voted LNP as the micro parties don't stand a chance here.
I also voted below the line in the senate to 20+ places, Fraiser Anning's Conservatives in the senate, then Shooters Fishers and Farmers solely for Ricky Muir then some minor parties with LNP in the high teens and ALP in the twenties. It sends a message to the two majors that you better get your **** sorted - my vote would have moved along different camps 6 times during the count for the house of reps. If you look at the national swing, ALP, LNP and Greens were down with the collection of minor right wing parties getting a 5% swing toward them, the nation is moving towards the right. QLD is responsible for LNP's shock win and they can thank Bob Brown and his gypsy caravan from Melbourne and Sydney trying to dictate to QLD patronising them. QLD doesn't like being told by other states how to run their electorates, who are these gypsies from Melbourne and Sydney to tell them to boycott Adani? It's jobs on the line for regional QLD and some vegan flogs from Melbourne and Sydney are trying to tell them what's best? |

Better news though - Jackie Lambie looks like she'll be back for Tassie. Yes, I voted below the line to hopefully get Jim Molan back for NSW. |

Congratulations "miracle man" Prime Minister Scott Morrison. An historic win by anyone’s standards. Australia’s first elected Pentecostal Prime Minister.
Australia is watching and waiting to see what Scott will do with this honour bestowed upon him. He would do well to heed the advice of Arthur Sinodinos IMHO I'm hopeful "Sco Mo" will honour the wishes of other results from Australians voting in the 2019 election.

One thing too that I found monotonous was seeing Shorten with his shadow Kristina Keneally next to him all the time.

An interesting round up so far.
Tanya Plibersek is the only one I have heard say that they didn't do a good enough job. Everyone else I have heard has blamed Clive, the redhead, the Liberals, the Qld Gov't... |

That dumb public saw through their class wedge campaign of going for the "top" end ie investors with 7 or more houses. When that dumb public realised that Labour's policy would impact mom/dads primary house value, and the mom and dads with primary residence and struggling to meet mortgages on 1 investment property. Labour needs to learn not to be dismissive of that dumb public. Heard that Anthony Albanese said something to the effect of the policy he will purse is wealth creation and sharing, not simply wealth redistribution. Snap- that says it all.

Just a timely reminder that our major political party is Labor not 'Labour' as per the British champagne socialists

I’m not going to say for a second I knew this would be the outcome, let’s face it the polls showed that 2 party preferred was bookies showed labor
But looking back the polls also showed bill wasn’t the preferred PM I know we aren’t voting for PM directly and were voting for the local member, but everyone still considers the leader when casting their vote Also I didn’t know it at the time but thinking back bill played a very big class card, and I think Australia has moved on from that Add to that Bowen’s if you don’t like our talk plan don’t vote later pretty much sealed it for them

Years and years ago I voted labor by default, then I thought they’re claims against the libs sound too far fetched, so I researched, since then I’ve voted both ways depending on what my research shows, This time round I honestly don’t think labor getting in would have any impact on my work situation, because even though bill was a union guy I think he cared little for the people and only wanted to buy votes

Yeah, at least it's not going to be Penny Wong - seen her sooking on enough over the last week. At least in the senate you don't get to see a lot of her. Albanese is getting on, so they might go for the younger blood.

I called this. Similar to how Trump won in 2016 - he focused on jobs and the economy and he won. The democrats focused on identity politics and lost. A lot of the people who like identity politics are the intersectional types with the loudest voices on social media. I told several friends that the "silent majority" care much more about having a job, supporting their families and putting food on their table than they care about climate change and pitting the classes against each other. Unfortunately for the ALP, Bill Shorten was not the right person for the job and had it have been Plibersek (not for gender reasons) they may have done better. However, none of them stand out as overly strong leaders to me.

Think about it logically. Since Howard in 96 they have won an election in 2007 (replicating Howard and calling for change based on Howard had stayed too long) and drew in 2010 where the cobbled together a minority government. Clearly, the same olds including Plibbers, Bowen, Wong, Marles, Butler, Burke, O'connor and Albo just have not cut it over the years. They have all had in-put and failed, basically Labor is in an echo chamber. Outside Albo (who I like) almost none of them take on right-wing arguments outside of the home ground of the ABC and Fairfax media. The media being biased don't challenge them much either but rather barrack for them. The fact is that this coalition government is extremely light on for talent outside Scomo, Frydenberg, Corman You would expect the coaltion to improve its game in the next 3 years with all the has beens out as long as the new talent is up to it. Labor really missed an opportunity. Heads should roll and a completely new strategy devised, that is based on prosperity for all, growing the pie so everyone benefits. |

Yesterday I made the point as well to some I know re the new Labor leader. IMO forget Albo as well, all they are doing recycling the same/similar clone Labor types. They say they are progressive, looking ahead re CC amongst other things well its high time they changed their Leader image very much. Union types, non appealing personalities etcetcetc and they bang on the same rhetoric. As for Wong, OMG who can stomach her lord knows, bitter type. May gain the women vote but pretty much about all. The rest you've mentioned are pretty random as well, needs the broom.
