Or speed camera proliferation in VIC is another good example and fines for 3km/h over the limit. Look at Japan, the older cars get the more expensive they get to register then they export them to Australia and NZ - that's also another alternative. |

Sounds like you are jealous that someone is getting away with lower rego price than what you are paying, get a life and move on. I say good luck to them if they are getting away it. |

I won't be the one complaining when the rest of you are paying $800+ to register your classic car you are lucky to drive once a week because the people gaming the system ruined it for the people doing the right thing. Take it up with the rusty TF Rodeo club |

I would be more concerned about TAC insurance (third party) if one of these guys is not using the vehicle for said intended purpose and kills someone.

Still wouldn't want to be in their shoes if something does happen.

Club rego isn't a loophole though. It's a simple 25 year old law. I own 5 cars - four cars on club rego. 2 are good, solid weekenders and 2 are just cheap bangers that I keep rego'd just because I can. They're certainly not worth me paying $1600 a year in registration for to keep them on the road, but I can because of this and someone else can after me. It's my prerogative what I want to do with the car. It's not against the law to drive to the supermarket or to the tip and I don't use them for personal gain.
The only thing I'm exploiting is my right as a 13 year car club member to cheap registration without breaking any laws. |

Perhaps they should make club reg cars have road worthy checks once a year.
Might get rid of a few of them. I'm sure the people who have these cars for the real purpose would have these cars in tip top shape.

Here in N.S.W. Every Police HWP vehicle has Number Plate recogniton cameras (& an increasing number of general duties Vehicles Too.)
It'd be no real Biggies to "flag" conditional Number plates, & have a few more "random" Log book inspections. Could/Should/Would weed out the Abusers.. |

Just out of curiosity how does the club scheme insure cars and how they are used. Anyone know.
