Can there be one thread without Holden bashing?
They keep Aussies employed. |

I like it!!
I think one of the reasons they push for the european theme is because most people hear "european styling" and they think prestige, comfort and elegance... And its at an affordable price.... Clever marketing i suppose....or is it? : ...

Europe is where all the luxury styling trends come from.
If they said its styled after a lincoln or cadillac i dont think it would work. |

But I want an Aussie styled car. One with a meat pie holder, and a crumb tray for eating pies on the run, a small bar fridge, and a waterbottle attached to the back of a seat with a hose onto your mouth for the lazy people.

How does a thread about an ad for Fairmont Ghia get so off topic?
I think it's a great ad and does EXACTLY what Ford wanted to do with it: Alert the buyers that it has a fresh aim at matching Euro Luxury and Sports Luxury segment, and to me from what I know about it, the car does exactly that!

Thanks XR8, yeah I downloaded it and it worked fine. Great ad! I loved it,class all the way, but my Mrs didnt know what the hell was going on-complained that you dont get a good look at the car, thatd probably be the only problem with it.
I like the VE Caprice ad somewhat, but the crazy, rock, ready to go! theme is abit much. |

I like the add.. Seems to target the right sort of buyers.
BF II Ghia is growing on me. The wheels looks super sweet. It does look fresh against the VE, certainly hasn't as dated as bad as I had thought. Fairmont Ghia now represents mind blowing value for money. $45k for ESP, 6 speed auto, powerfully grunty 190kw six, RWD, leather, dual zone, lcd TFT, premium audio with sub, 6 stacker, front and side airbags, 17"s (that look nice). Its certainly better buying than entry level 3 series or C class. I think the Ghia is still Aussie enough. Its just not super bogan. The holden ad is way to frantic, implies you will be busy weeving in and out of stone age cars making you frustrated. Where the Ford ad, there is no other cars, just peaceful crusing. Just wished they had the turbo motah avalible in it. Personally I think the euro's have lost it a bit. The Swedes are almost silly (not like they used to be, Saab, Volvo used to make seriously good cars). A Ford Fairmont Ghia and a BMW 540 share the same gearbox essentially so the germans don't have the technology card they used to be able to play. Plus the germans have gone for weird flashy styling, too much complicated gizmo etc. If Ford can screw the Ghia's together and give decent service. I think they might tempt a few european buyers. Ghia should also be avalible in a wider range of colour, bring back atleast a bold red. Most of the Ghia colours are tad too boring. |

The Caprice ad was one of holdens best ad's. they show you peace by peace they set out too create a car that would rival the worlds best, And the only part missing is ? You. Does that explain the jigsaw too you?. Sleep with the fishes MAFIA. :

There are 4 shocker on TV right now.
The Astra one where there nude. The Honda ad's where there getting it on in the front seat. The Lady giving birth and then runs out as she gave birth too get a good deal on a car with drip in hand still. And the Captiva ad is a shocker i turn the channel when they come on. Other then not making much sence there stupid. Only thing they do is make you grab the remote.

IMO I don't mind the Ghia ad, it's not annoying like many of Fords previous ads and i've seen it more than once which is surprising for a Ford ad lately.
The Ad I most despise is the VE ad claiming everything in still in the stone age, it really agrovates me for some reason. Probably because when I think of the VE I think of a totally unoriginal design built upon an existing chassis and having absolutely no new technology that has never been seen before. If anything for a new car it's living in the stone age. The Ghia ad claims that it looks european and it certainly does, no bullcrap = good ads. |

Oh looking for the song used in the Ghia add..
Anyone got any clues? Lyrics go something like "you'll fall, you'll fall for her".. But I could be wrong.. No idea, sounds like a weird accent too. Sounds a bit like portishead or bjork influenced.. But Im drawing up a blank who it is. |

Yeah, it's a decent song, possibly something that they had written up specifically for the ad though?
