got a fair bit of experience in aviation, and I tell ya one thing, it's suss
the transponder was deliberately turned off, and the aircraft was deliberately flown somewhere after this happened, there is no doubt about it so either it was pilot "suicide", hijacked mid-air, or manipulated via ground computers pilot suicide theory: it would explain a lot, a controlled crash into the ocean could leave very little floating wreckage, an uncontrolled crash would leave lots of it, but no evidence of pilot suicide other than it would explain so oddities hijacked theory: unlikely, as a hijacking would have motive, and since no demands or targets have been identified would mean the hijackers accidently crashed, leaving obvious wreckage somewhere, most likely near land ground manipulated: the aircraft could be "hijacked" via ground computer hacking, maybe flown to a military aerodrome, or deliberately crashed, for what reason is unclear whatever the case, it is very very suss, this was no ordinary plane crash

has any one else heard about a new item last week of some wreckage of some sort washed up on WA beach it was being sent off for identification
I personally recon this is how we will find it the WA coast has a massive current I think it is called the Leeuwin current and this washing items down the coast onto beaches

It was found in cervantes, a town that has a huge amount of tourists pass through because of the pinnacles. I believe the chances that this towel was just from some random tourist is higher than it washing up from mh 370.

They denied it at first, and they claimed they have no legal responsibility over the incident, even though they were in Iranian waters when they shot it down, does that count?
I'm not saying the USA did something to MH370 but they did make a mistake in the past. |

They never denied it, they denied being in Iranian waters.

this is good news but in this present economic times can we afford to search every square inch of the Indian ocean
The Government keep saying we are broke and there is cuts in almost every level of government It is not a easy decision but some one has to say stop we cannot find this aircraft and may be in time we may find more information or wreckage

yes true but the government does come up with I we are broke but across the board are cutting services and many government programs are being cut
they are under a obligation to search but some where down the track some one has to make a decision I would not like to be the one

I wonder how much of that ocean floor has been mapped with any accuracy? Primary objective is obviously to locate the plane, but I can't help but think how excited any ocean geologists would be with all the new data. Actually surprised they havn't discovered and ship-wrecks yet.

It is ironic twist of fate that on the day the debry was washed up Russia voted against the UN inquiry into the other Malaysian aircraft crash
people have found bottles that had been in the ocean for many years with messages inside this is great news now the job is working out what this wreckage is from

A large panel like that would possibly still have the servicing tags still riveted on which will help identify the aircraft it came from. The hard part would be working out where it floated from based on tidal information.

Just a question for our resident aircraft guru`s , other than normal part numbers on some parts do aircraft have any special identifying marks like data dots or anything to tell if say for example a piece of fuselage or something was to turn up on a beach ?
obviously they can tell a jumbo from a cesna and identify black boxes if found, , but if 3 jumbos from the same company came down in an area would they be able to say this piece of panel comes from specifically no 1,2, or 3. ? |

Most major components of an aircraft have various tags and prints on them with things like dates, checks, QA related stuff on them. I know from working in an Airline that just one side of an actual aircraft door has around 4 identifying marks on it - from the actually locking slot / mechanism, to a QA tag and then general printing on the frame.
I would think a piece like that, which is made up of several pieces to make up a major wing component, would have half a dozen or so markings which could easily identify which aircraft it came from. This picture compares the piece to a technical drawing of a "flaperon" from a 777: Sorry I couldn't find a complete picture, someone else may be able to. If indeed it can be confirmed just by looking at the picture the part is from a 777, and isn't a part shared with any other Boeing aircraft, you could pretty much say it'd have to be MH370 as there have not been any other 777 losses at sea. |

I tell you what, of all the debris that could finally wash up from MH370, arent we lucky it was a piece unique to 777's and not just some random piece of airframe...
Chances are the only identifying marks will confirm it is a 777, but unfortunately not which frame it was from, at which point we will be told that as MH370 is the only 777 missing it must be it. Case closed. I wonder if they retrieved the 'flaperons' from MH17. |

Any chance it could be from SAA 295 Boeing 747 in 1987?
Hoping this is from MH370 though, for the families.

It would have been totally covered in green algae and the build up of sea creatures would be much thicker. I think this is from MH370 personally.
