what actual car is it? just an XT or an XR or what?
putting the stripes etc is 1 thing, but its gone to far when the stripes have GT cut out of them etc... no bulge either, probably ran out of money after the kit:P the color combo isnt bad....would be very rare to see a real GT in that color, if its even available. |

Thats just ridiculous really isnt it. I mean its not even any sort of performance model. Its also made 100% worse by the fact the the stickers have GT cut out of them.

I was discussing deals on a new GT today...
It had the bulge sticker and i wanted it off.... Side stripes you could probably get away with, i saw a white XR6 ute with blue side stries and it was ok! |

I love my stripes (thanks for putting up the pic Twisted). I had the turbo sticker placed over the top to make it stand out a little more.
As for someones comment that stripes on an non GT is trying to be a poor man's GT. My car with it's options, costs the same as a GT. I chose the Turbo as I've always been a fan of the 6. V8's have never interested me. I've had nothing but great comments about the car since adding the stripes. I often have people come up to me on the street and beside me at the lights to talk about the car. It's only been on here that I get the occasional sook mumbling something about should only be on GT's. Just because I chose to ignore them it doens't mean that they are intitled to their own opinon. What it comes done to in the end it it's my car and I'll do whatever I want to it.

I say do whatever you like to your car, if you go puttin rice all over it people like me will look, shake my head, have a laugh at you and your car, and then carry on.
As for puttin GT stripes and badges and so on, if you do a good enuff job of it i dont see the problem, If it weren't for replica GT xw and xy's we would hardly ever see a GT on the road

bucky, the phoon doesn't have stripes either as far as i know...but my point was that it was a base model 182kw engine with full GT kit, and even GT markings in the GT stripes, but they didnt get the bonnet bulge. lol |

I disagree that I would be in the same boat. The car is not being made out to be something that it is not. Sure I have thrown back a GT to a previous GT model (note: Previous GT model). Far be it for anyone to object to ones artistic license, but seriously........ Adding spoilers, bumpers, power bulge and marking it as a GT 6, is....... No comment (it's still a family site) _2: But chomping a hole in the bonnet for a gadget that does give some performance benefit, is far from even entering the boat. Regards Paul

Not trying to **** you off Paul, and I hear you totally. Hell I just need to get back to minding my own business, that red 6pack with the full kit was a bit too much. Shame on Ford for supplying the parts!

Seems there are a lot of the upper crust have gotten their satin knickers in a twist because a few peasants dressed up their poverty pack V8s.
Who really gives a toss if an XR8 owner puts a stripe kit on his bonnet bulge, as long as it says 'BOSS 260', or something non-GT. Just because an XR8 owner dresses up his BA doesn't mean he is trying to pretend it is a GT, just a BA XR8 with stripes....cause they look good. SHIT! I have an EBII Tickford Fairmont GHIA with ED XR nose, cold air mods, XR instrument cluster, and an XR8 decal on the back, but I haven't copped any crap over it (don't start now....I know where you all live). Mind you, I don't tell everyone it is an XR8, I actually point out what it really is. The badge I put on to finish the transformation someone else started.

So what if it gets blown away by a Commodore? If the Commodore driver doesn't realise it's a 6 by the lack of V8 exhaust note then he is a bigger fool than the Ford owner. I agree with Quasi, there are too many precious people out there who need to worry about other things than what someone does to their car.

You own the car. Do what you want with it.
I dont mind stripes bulges n stickers on "lower spec" models. It can look real nice. If i was going to do it i would rather do something original tho. I do think that putting badges claiming to be another model (GT on a XR or XT) is a bit dumb. I often wonder what these people say when asked "Geez mate IS that a real GT, must of set you back a bit, how does it go?" "Yeh mate its a real GT cost me heaps goes like the clappers" (Lies and damned lies, tosser) or "no mate is a XR with stripes and a warmed 6/8 in it, i jsut put Gt Badges on it, coz..." (actually why did you?) Mind you, nobody seems to think twice about every second XW/XY now carrying full HO badges and tricks, even if it left the factory as an auto 6 taxi pack. SAme with every granny's Toranas.,they all XU1, SLR5000 or A9X, now even the Sunbirds! There are more HOs and XU1s tooling around the suburbs now then the factorys could have hoped to make in their dreams. |

'tis much a do about nothing really. However, where do you draw the line at what's cool, and what makes the owner a flog (in some opinions)? For instance, I know some people who own an XR6T with a carbon fibre XR8 bonnet and GT kit, minus wing. Everybody who sees it loves it. Yet, if they had done that to a BA XT 6 cylinder it would be a different reaction.
