There's upside for Falcon, there's an issue with EcoLPi (nothing major) that's stalling deliveries.

Why wouldn't they be? They're not called the Falcon Motor Company. It doesn't matter a stuff if its a Falcon or a re-branded Trabant that goes down the assembly line there, its a vehicle made to order, keeping the line workers in a job and at the other end, a sale in Ford's pocket.

I guess the problem now is trying to balance between Falcon and Territory... If they sell 500 more Territorys a month over Falcon... what will they do with those 500 extra Falcons a month? Is some of that 500 made of up utes?
As I have said in another thread Falcon is now 5 years old. Time to bring out a 4 cylinder at the $26,990 mark XT... They need to build as many Falcons as they can sell, and they need to be very particular in what they build. |

Falcon Sales:
Month 2012 2013 Drop (from 2012) January 931 778 -16.4% February 1192 868 -27.2% YTD 2123 1646 -22.5% If the Falcon continues the sales drop of this magnitude all throughout this year then I think we can expect some more changes …

I know what you mean, I rarely see any FG MkII falcons in the Sydney metro area, and they have been on sale well over a year now …

Just a small point I will throw out there ....
The figures for Falcon & Territory really need to be combined as they share so much including most of the engines which are produced here with a very trimmed level of workers to accomplish this total which is well over the 2000 units per month plus the utes. The level of workers as halved over the last 10 years to accommodate this? With a very good range of vehicles on offer that will make there way here ..... ST versions of hot hatches, an update for the AUS fleet next year, (best chance in years to trump Holden) a proper work horse brigade and now a very good 4X4 which is only hindered by supply and not lack of want ..... some of the best engines on offer today and more to come with the EcoBoost project and a very local real 7 seater people mover ........ etc Compare it to the Commodore and Cruze and the investment that has been thrown at it. With near on double the workforce and for what I beleive to have less (especially now) Australian input and components and the amount of money being offered by govco and the amount they spend on advertising through sponsorship (V8 Supercommodre cup) Footy, TV ... etc. Decreased sales overall .... (yes, new VF will (should) pick things up .... no real SUV available and what really is a limited range of 4X4 or people movers where the sales race seem to be heading and slim pickings from GM Daewoo for some of their models ..... I think they should be a little concerned? Quote:
By the way .... that works out well over 70,000 plus Km;s per year? Possible my maths is crap though! That is one massive fuel bill per year overall for one car! There isn't too many out there that would do that, especially the second car taking the kiddies to footy practice. My daily has done 28,000 coming on to 3 years ... but I don't drive to far to work.

Brilliant effort by Territory. That diesel engine has saved Ford.
An XR variant would probably make the Territory a regular top 10. |

That is still more than what the rental companies buy them for. Plus once you get that customer though that door you can upsell them into a G6 or XR6. It also gives volume to the component makers and the Ford dealer service departments. Camry got to around 3300 a month with the special pricing and 0% nothing stopping Falcon at least hitting the 2000 a month mark with a lower priced XT.

because why we all sit here lamenting 4 year product cycles they are thinking further ahead to there kids and mortgages Elizabeth aint exactly jobs central. Even they know once ford goes holden goes along with it which is why its mostly Holden fan boys that wish death apon the falcon not actual holden workers themselves.

is this actually the case? holden would surely pickup market share with the demise of the falcon, and I doubt its particularly economical to make ever smaller quantities of components for unique models

What makes you think that a cheaper Falcon would be profitable at all?
