A MELBOURNE academic has come under fire after controversially recommending some country roads be restricted to speed limits of just 80km/h in a bid to cut the road toll further.
![]() ![]() The proposal from Professor of Accident Research at Monash University Max Cameron comes after a year in which the national road toll slumped by more than 8 per cent compared to 2012. Despite this drop, Professor Cameron believes reducing the speed limit on some country roads would help reduce both road trauma and fatalities. “The current speed limits of 100km/h are too high against reduced cost of travel times,” Professor Cameron said. “There’s increased cost of road trauma. “The speed that minimises these costs is about 80km/h.” http://www.dailyadvertiser.com.au/st...-80kmh/?cs=148 My Comment : This will increase accidents as drivers will be more tired. How do these moron's get theses positions??? Obviously, he hasn't driven in America or Europe. Try that overseas and he would be lynched !!
