Secondly, its actually not about immigration as such, and certainly not about immigration as a portion of the total population. It's about JOBS. The issue being that people leave their families behind in Poland and come to the UK to work, where they will work harder and longer for less than the Poms (because with the strength of the Stirling they still make a lot more than they would in Poland.) And again, whether there are a thousand or a million Poles doing this, its about perception.
Ahh facts & perception. So one take on this could be the public perceived something and voted on perception. Thumbs up!

And the Polish/Latvian contingent of the overall UK population went from 0.12% to 1.2% over 15 years... Another statistician would use those figures and go "GOOD GOD THAT'S A 10-FOLD INCREASE! WE'RE DOOMED"

I wonder what jobs these eastern europeans are taking? Let me guess... Servos, taxis, 7-11, waitressing... Don't these jobs have award rates & such? Therefore a UK citizen could just as easily be filling these roles & the pay & conditions shouldn't be driven down...

HTCURRY, some good points raised but how much does hindsight reveal that was not apparent before?

The Establishment are rueing the day they allowed a public vote on Brexit. They will make the UK (and by that I mean the people) pay dearly for wanting their sovereignty back.

There will be war in Europe, and they will blame it on Brexit.

All they have to do is shut up and get on with governing the nation, the people have voted end of story.

The only thing to do with any threat of war, is all the work of cunning deviates spinning all there rubbish and trying to lead the people astray for there own little grubby miserable ends. apart from that there is no foundation for any war at all.

It's about time they started on each other again. It has been 70 years since the last one which has got to be a record for the longest peace in Europe ever???

None of this is hindsight. These were and are established facts. Facts that were in the public domain, but was purposefully drowned out - this was a strategy.

Take the focus away from facts and lean on fears and emotions.

Think I'm being unfair to the voters or insulting their intelligence? Nope, the man who funded most of the Leave campaign gleefully admitted it.
[quote]The Bristol-based founder of GoSkippy and Southern Rock insurance is the largest donor to Farage’s party and, in what is thought to be the biggest ever single donation to a UK political cause, spent £5.6m of his personal fortune funding the Ukip-backed Leave.EU campaign.

“I think we have a good shot at taking over from Labour as the opposition because Labour are imploding and Labour voters for the first time ever have defied their party, voting for leave,” Banks said on Wednesday.

But he hinted Farage might not be his choice of leader for any new party, saying: “He may have had enough. And by the way, going out at the top is a good way in politics.”

“Arron is an entrepreneur in business and in politics,” said Farage’s spokesman. “He is always looking for opportunities and there is certainly a huge opportunity for Ukip to grow significantly, with the sight of Labour deliberately and conscientiously abandoning its base, and the sight of so many people in the Conservative party reneging on the free movement of people.”

Banks has been credited with professionalising Ukip’s referendum push through the Leave.EU campaign. He deployed senior executives and staff from his insurance companies and hired the Washington DC political campaign strategy firm Goddard Gunster on a multimillion-pound fee to sharpen its message.

“It was taking an American-style media approach,” said Banks. “What they said early on was ‘facts don’t work’ and that’s it. The remain campaign featured fact, fact, fact, fact, fact. It just doesn’t work. You have got to connect with people emotionally. It’s the Trump success.”

One video on the Leave.EU Facebook page, viewed 1.6m times, begins: “Are you concerned about the amount of crime committed in the UK by foreign criminals?” before ending with the message: “Isn’t it time to take back control.”

“The Conservatives are now trying to rewrite the campaign that immigration wasn’t important, but boy was immigration important,” Banks said. “The first thing we did was poll everybody and we found that if immigration wasn’t the issue, the issue was schools or education, proxies for immigration. It was the number one issue by a country mile.”

It's called democracy, get over it.

As someone once said, the easiest way to tell if a politician is lying to you, is to see if their mouth opens.
At the end of the day, people make up their minds and vote accordingly. Sure, half those people voting I wouldn't trust to weed my garden, but that's democracy.

As for the "media," they print what people want to read. People don't get angry about Migrants because the newspaper publishes a story, its the other way round.

Britain has done what America did 240 years ago, they have freed themselves from bondage, in this case from a centralized tyrannical government.

England kept its own currency during its dalliance with the EU. It was not bonded by the EU.

We Americans cast off the bondage of colonialism to form an independent nation. England was never subject to any other nation. It has simply cast off a trade/border alliance. England will survive, but it has weakened the EU in competition with Asia and other emerging economies. England has also weakened its own United Kingdom, as some of its components (e.g., Scotland and Northern Ireland) benefited greatly from EU membership. Interesting times lie ahead.

If the UK have a good Government they will just power on and the EU will not loose anything at all.

Yes, but it's still very similar and the same spirit...Britain should have done this years ago.

An excellent article about Brexit by Matt Taibbi of "Rolling Stone" magazine:

Yeah Griftopia is amazing, everyone should read that. I haven't read The Great Derangement yet. Recently read The Divide which is good too.

And yet again, like other contentious issues, Brexit has disappeared from the media, save for a mention of the new British PM.

The ludicrous calls to have Blair charged as a war criminal have conveniently appeared, I'll give you that.
