Agree - the DOHC XK engine powered: XK120, XK140, XK150, XK150S (Triple SUs), XKC (C-Type) XKD (D-Type) XKE Series I and II (E-Type - Triple SUs), MkX & 420G (Tripel SUs), MkI, MkII, S-Type, 420, XJ6 Series I, II and III and Daimler Limo's (until early 90s). Phenomenal I6.

The later AJ6 powered XJS 3.6, XJS 4.0 and XJ40s before evolving into AJ16 which powered the XJS 4.0 and X300 series (1994-1997, 3.2L & 4.0L) including the 326HP 4L Supercharged XJR and 435HP 3.2L Supercharged Aston DB7. Incredible I6!

Am in the process of finishing a S/C 4.0 XJS Coupe' (XJR I6 & trans in 1989 XJS) which will be 60% DB7, given the Aston uses XJS floorpan, chassis, etc. Fairly straight-forward, but wished i hadn't used a Wolf ecu (long story, build thread one day.....)

Love the list and agree the Holden red motor is up there with the best - S4, X2 179, X2 186, 186S, XU-1 were all world beaters.

I think the most underrated I6 was the 250 crossflow. It may have no racing pedigree, but is practically indestructible, highly modifiable & pulls like a train.

As far as the list goes, the barraT can well and truly hold its own. Handling copious amounts of boost and abuse, and still running for hundred's of thousands of kms
Yep.

Mines not high power and basically standard compared to FPVs and heavily tuned Ts etc, but at 270,000Ks still so strong/fast/reliable anyone claiming the Barra 6T not worthy of being in top 10 has no idea what they're talking about!

It's a brilliant engine and will be missed
