Cars do seem to be getting bigger, I wonder if parking space regulations will ever increase? Spaces seem to be shrinking to squeeze more spots in.

But I guess people are also getting larger, yet plane seating is getting smaller.

my colorado is 450mm shorter and 180mm narrower, so the dodge is not alot bigger im sure the fat *** on my landau is wider

Anyone that thinks 450mm longer, 200mm wider, and 150mm higher won't make much difference in finding a parking spot is fooling themselves, my PX with a roof rack wont fit in many underground/multistorey carparks, and the fact that a standard park is 5.5mt won't grow with your exceptional driving skills.

Don't get me wrong I like the look of them, I saw a F150 Shelby Black with grey stripes only yesterday. sounded great BTW

Being too big isn't a negative for this car. If you buy one you accept the fact that it has some positives but it also has negatives like not fitting in every car park in town. Live with it or don't buy one. Simple.

It does look modern though.

We had a dual cab for four years and it was bloody practical in the suburbs without needing to tow 3500kg (shove that) or loading the thing up with 1 tonne. The Raptor for us would be a whole lot more practical and comfortable for what we did in both the suburbs and bush over our old dual cab - and uses less fuel too, win win for us. Not interested in the bigger utes, totally impractical for what we do.

Yes, maybe, but is it worth the 20-30k premium for comfort in the suburbs?

For us yes but each to their own I suppose bud. My cousin just bought his second Great Wall, he loves em’, does the job he requires perfectly. Is the extra performance of an F6 worth the premium over an XR6 turbo? Is a Silverado pointless in the burbs? Chapman caravans in Nowra have a Ram for sale running the 8 litre V10 viper motor, someone will buy it yet most will see it as pointless. Last night I watched discovery turbo, a couple spent $63000 doing up a he**** because they love Halloween. What many assume and see pointless has no bearing on other people’s purchase. The Raptor as an example is bespoke, and for someone who will use it they’ll get Big Bang for buck, especially some of the coin you see spent on Rangers on aftermarket gear.

The original post of mine that you quoted was in regards to Windsor220's suggestion that unless you lived in the sticks or towed a big boat the RAM is pointless, i was simply pointing out that unless you live in the sticks the Raptor is also pointless as any dualcab can and until recently has, done what the Raptor can do in suburbia and then some, with the exception of a bit of extra ride comfort.
I dont care who wants to buy a Raptor, if they choose to pay a 20-30k premium for those extra's then thats fine by me, but that is fair to say of someone who chooses a RAM too.
If i need to pull more than 3.5t i can buy a RAM, if i want to go hell for leather off road i can buy a Raptor, running around suburbia in either of them doing the daily school run is not using them to their potential, but thats not to say people wont.

Around the burbs im guessing many have what we have - a cheap 4 cylinder run about that has a huge warranty, costs stuff all to service/run and is an awesome little suburbia pocket rocket. If towing is someone’s priority then the 335kw 1234Nm@1600rpm Silverado is coming out soon also - starts at $114000. Will take a slice of the 200 market I reckon. Cheers

They’re quick alright, and they hold the world speed record in the ute class. Chapman caravans have had a few for sale over the last couple of years. They had a yellow one recently for about 70ish from memory. Looked great and a mean looking bit of gear. I’d put a set of pipes on it the day I bought it.

I don't agree with people taking up 2 spaces unless it's a quiet carpark with many free spaces. If parking is a premium then park your oversize cars on the street. From what I can see the longest RAM is 7.2m which is as long as a LWB Merecedes Sprinter.
I'm sure most Australians won't be buying that model. I'm sure the issues of taking up too much space will be rare.

Good luck to anyone that’s not aware of what happens to ones paint when they take up two car spaces in a busy car park - especially an oversize.

Personally I wouldn’t do it but each to their own, I’d prefer to walk a little further and keep my paint.

Apart from Towing capacity I really can't see what a Ram can achieve over other vehicle options that actually fit in a parking space.

Whats with the focus on parking spaces, i could count on 1 finger the number of times in a week i need to park in a place where space is an issue.
Unless you're one of these people who'll drive around the carpark at your local Woolies waiting for the space next to the main doors to become vacant, i'd just park well away where there is space and add to my step count for the day.

Its certainly not a deal breaker, the RAM isnt something you'd buy for you're missus to do the daily school run/shopping duties so who cares if it doesnt fit in a particular parking space.

Im sure someone who could afford $80k for one of these can afford another car for daily shopping duties.

Fair dinkum..

Would be more of an issue in Melbourne or Sydney than lizbeff.
